When you guys mentioned the bad belting, I didn't expect this kind of vocal disaster

Rihanna and Nicki Minaj are apparently not getting along tonight

https://twitter.com/TrishelleC/statu...75026619752449

And she's actually reliable!! I hope it's all for publicity.
They spelt Rihanna's name wrong so I think it might be fake plus I thought Nicki and Rihanna got on really well

She's actually pretty reliable, given that she attended the VMA's! Maybe Rihanna's facial expression annoyed Nicki a little...She did look shocked when Nicki won.

Rihanna's acceptance speech.

'WFL' more than deserved to win! Too bad that the kiss overshadowed the performance and the moonman! It feels like 'BC' remix all over again!

They aren't the best in anything !

Nothing against One Direction but it's one of the most average pop videos i have seen in years. Hardly VMA worthy at all

Very happy about my girl Ri-Ri. It's been one of her best videos since her Rated R era and i am glad it won Video of the year.

How is 1D win best pop video? It's hardly mind blowing video?

I guess it's because of the fans ...

Really glad for Nicki though

All but the VOTY and the technical awards are fan voted. That's how One Direction won.

The show was as uneventful as expected. Frank Ocean's performance was the highlight for me. So beautiful.

I really thought it should have won 'Best Female Video' as well. Nothing against Nicki, but 'Starships' was average imo.

Too bad 'Where Have You Been' didn't get any nods. It was much more recent than 'WFL', so it could have done better in the categories that are voted by the fans.

Rihanna is breaking records! She is the first solo female artist to win 'VOTY' twice!!! She won in 2007 for 'Umbrella' and she won this year for 'WFL' as well

Rumours floating around that ratings were down by half from last year.

I read that on ATRL and I was shocked. It was obviously a dull show, but barely 6 million viewers??? Ouch!

I hope they get the message though. They need to step their game up! If people want drama and awkward jokes, they can watch any other MTV show. The VMA's need to be more polished and of a higher quality. It's not all about the lights and the set. The performers have to be half decent too! They seem to have forgotten that part lately...

The DNC obviously didn't help, but I do think the major factor was lack of draw/hype. No Gaga, Beyonce, Britney or Madonna. Plus, they didn't even have the biggest songs of the year performed by Gotye, Fun or Carly Rae Jepsen.

Hopefully they do get the message and MAJORLY step up their game next year.

I don't think they need a host, if anything it's a detraction, but 2013 should have a big name to hold it all together. Either a slick presenter who will get the job done or a popstar who themselves will be a talking point. Possibly Justin Timberlake? He's got comedy chops should they opt for skits and he's big enough that the A Listers would play along.

2013 will be better by default though. Gaga, Beyonce, Britney, Christina, Rihanna, Katy, Ke$ha etc. will all be active again.

Well half the winners this year made the show look like a laughing stock, no wonder viewings are down. If Nicki did say that she probably wasn't happy Rihanna was sitting with Katy and not her since she seems so to think everyone should bow to her but in all honesty i don't believe it, I mean could you really imagine Rihanna not saying anything back? or the VMA cameras not picking up on it and the fact when Nicki won Rihanna didn't even get up to hug her...

Nothing is confirmed. I actually think she didn't tbh But I agree that the show was subpar. I hope next year's show is much better

I didn't think she did, hopefully one of them comment on it soon. I do too, the performances were weak. Rihanna's started off good with Cockiness but then it tailed off with We Found Love which at the end she was all over the place and the rest where as dull as dishwater. I adore Alicia but she sounded different last night -still good though. Taylor looked like she was miming but that may have been because i was waching on streeming. There was just no 'out there' performances or OMG moments. Just bland hope the AMA's are better in a few months.

I had a feeling Frank Ocean would be the surprise star. Channel Orange is at #6 on iTunes and Thinkin Bout You is top 20.

He was the most talked about on social media, followed by One Direction.

I don't think they fought tbh. They took a picture together as well (http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9...1dyeo1_500.png), even though that was probably before the show started, but it's way too crazy to go from taking pictures to fighting. I think it was probably a fake rumour tbh.

S/ N : The AMA's have been better than the VMA's for the past 3 years and I think this year will be no exception. I think the AMA's last 3 hours and their hosts never get too much time to talk, so they include more performances. Even the EMA's -which are usually dull- have a chance at overshadowing the VMA's this year!

meh, Nicki will probably claim it was Roman Rolanski that said it. Katy & Rihanna were cute though, laughing and talking through the show.

Yeah i've always preferred the AMA's. I think the EMA's will be good if it isn't all over the place again and if they book the right performers. IMO all award shows are becoming dull because theres no 'OMG did that just happen' moments. The last was the Kanye-Taylor thing. People are too afraid to be outspoken or do something controversial incase it ruins there image, of which i've no idea how Kanye bounced back untouched with his Taylor incident.

p.s Is it me or does Katy look like she's trying to do the robot in that picture?
