Would love to see Lana scoop something for Born To Die. Stunning video.

It's the same people that go on the X Factor... bring someone through and get somebody else to write and produce a song for them. They're just an image.

I agree. 'BTD' and 'National Anthem' are both amazing videos and deserved some recognition. They could have at least nominated her in the 'Best New Artist' category! She most definitely deserves it.

Lana Del Rey isn't a bad shout... nothing to do with who deserves what though, all to do with who has the biggest fanbase and media attention around them.

Britney attended with much pomp and circumstance though, correct? Plus, Piece of Me was a big hit.

Y&I and MTN were not as big as those that did make the nominations. They would have no business being chosen over Call Me Maybe, We Found Love etc. Simple.

Clueless.

There might still be hope for Lana at 2013 VMAs, since National Anthem was released outside the eligibility date for this year's one. I may be wrong on that one. Their eligible deadline has always been fuzzy.

I love Rihanna, but I somehow doubt she'll win that many awards. She never wins, even if she deserves it. (Which she does).

In general, I think that late 2012/ early 2013 will be a great time period for Lana in the US. The re-release of 'BTD' is scheduled for release around Thanksgiving and she might score some nominations at the Grammy's, so she'll get more publicity

I think this year will be different for her. 'WFL' is one of the biggest and best selling hits of 2011/2012 and 'WHYB' had a massive video and positive feedback too, so she'll win at least one of the awards.

Yes, i think Interscope are viewing the re-release as an opportunity to fully go for the US market after the SNL debacle scuppered their plans in January. You never know, they may even decide to send a single to radio then

Wide Awake is newer, and people may remember that video better, which may influence who they vote on. And since it's voted on by the fans, I'm pretty sure Katy Perry has more fans in the target group that votes for these award shows, even though both her and Rihanna have many fans.

That would be great for Demi and 1D to get there Awards, BTW winning over perfect by pink last year was a travesty

Nothing like awards being given out to popstars that have little input on someone else's music... Makes them feel special I suppose. Regardless, they'll never be talked about in the same category as the greats... The Who, U2, Pink Floyd etc.

It is the VMAs not the Ivor Norvello's. For videos. And bar 1D and Rihanna, I'm sure all those there wrote those songs.

Hopefully they'll promote her more this time around. I always thought the 'SNL' fiasco was a plan and if you think about it, it worked. She's sold almost 300k in the States with no single and no further promo, hasn't she? I just hope they find a way to give her some credibility in the US.

I still can't understand why 'BTD' was never sent to radio. I honestly think it would do incredibly well. Even pop radio has been trying to broaden its orizons (Fun, Gotye getting to #1), so she could have done well...

I thought that. She could at least get a top 60 single, I mean Video Games peaked at #45 on itunes I think. She can really sell.

I honestly thought it would rank higher than that for both Video Games and BTD. I am hoping National Anthem would rank well, but I suppose the moment has passed as the video was out for a while now. Lana might do really well at MTV Europe Music Awards though. Born To Die, the album, was certified platinum this month by IFPI for selling over 1 million copies in Europe.

Now, for my prediction.

However, that was only after SNL. So for one performance it sold well.

I knew what you had posted before even opening the link

You're right, they can't top this. I doubt Madonna, Britney and Christina will top this, let alone MTV!

I give very little credibility to the VMAs... they make no logical sense!

Katy Perry's Wide Awake nominated for Video of the Year... but not for Best Female Video? Illogical.
Gotye for Video of the Year... but not in Best Male Video? Illogical.
M.I.A for Video of the Year... but not Best Female Video? Illogical.

It's like this every year!

Beyoncé infamously didn't win Best Female Video but then won Video of the Year... WHAT THE WHAT?!

Pink has announced that she will be performing at the VMA's and she is going to premiere a brand new song off of her album (Source)

So now we have Pink, Alicia Keys and One Direction. Which other artists do you want to see perform?
