VMAS don't really have any credbilty, I think the Grammys/Brits awards mattered more for me anyway.

Well, in my opinion, the VMA's have never been about the actual awards. It's all about the performers. And this year they seem to have stepped their game up, given that they've already confirmed Pink, Alicia Keys and 1D a month before the show airs, so I think it will be entertaining at least

Green Day have been confirmed to perform at the VMA's next month

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/169...rformers.jhtml

So now we have Pink, Green Day, Alicia Keys and One Direction.

Taylor Swift will be performing too apparently. Not unexpected of course

Rihanna is probably the one that will win a lot.

Some of the promo's for this year's VMA's have already been released.

Alicia Keys
P!nk
One Direction
Taylor Swift

I think P!nk has the best commercial so far. Simple but good

And quite interestingly, most of the performers that have been announced so far, including P!nk, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift and Green Day are going to premiere brand new previously unheard songs. It's going to be an interesting show

This is who I want to win or voted for ))))
I actually now want Usher to win Best Male Video as it would be good for him to laugh at all the newbies.
However I voted for Chris Brown so I though I better put him on here )))

She had better do something major this year! I'd like a medley of 'WHYB' and the new single.

MTV confirmed that Rihanna will be performing and they also added Frank Ocean to this year's line-up of performers. Hmm...

The pre-show performers have been announced! It's Demi Lovato and Calvin Harris

(Source)

The pre-show is going to be an hour long though, so I think there will be more pre-show performers announced soon. And hopefully they'll keep announcing new main show performers, because there's so many artists that should perform and haven't been confirmed yet.

There is a new category called 'Most Share-Worthy Video'...

http://www.mtv.com/ontv/vma/2012/mos...-worthy-video/

Absolutely ridiculous.

BIB See thats why I dont take this award show seriously, what kind of category is that
Chris brown will not be at the show confirmed by his Rep.

http://www.gossipcop.com/rihanna-reu...-music-awards/

As a fan of his Im a tad disappointed(because I wanted to see him perform) but Im glad that he stepped out of the show because I see what Mtv was trying to pull(with the supposedly Rihanna/Drake) controversy. They just wanted to use him for ratings imo.
Of course the show will still probably have high ratings but Im glad that he is not doing it.
I hope he wins the 2 awards for which he is nominated for though.

:yawn::yawn: he is overrated. He has been in the business for many years and yet the mainstream media never really paid him any dust but as soon as he declares that he is gay(like many people suspected) suddenly he is the best thing since slice bread. What a joke. Sorry for being cynical but thats just my opinion. He is the flavor of the month though so he'd better enjoy his 15 min of fame because in a few months or years people will forget about him. No offense, just my opinion

Too bad. I wanted him to perform tbh. It would be a good way to promote his new singles and he always does a good job at award shows, so it would have been a good performance. Oh well...

Yeah its a shame he isnt going as its a good chance to promote one of his singles. Ke$ha will be there in some capacity as well but i dont think she'll perform. ATM i'm not really excited about many of the performers announced so far hopefully some other artists that i like will be announced. Nas maybe?

You love Nas too? 'Life Is Good' is one of the best albums of the year imo, but unfortunately I don't think he will perform at the VMA's. There is not much hip hop included this year in general, let alone real rap.

I agree with you that the performers they've announced so far are good, but not amazing. That's why I really wanted CB to perform and spice things up. I don't think the line-up as it is can carry a 3-hour show tbh, even though I love some of them. They've already announced 7 performers and judging by the previous years, there are only 2 or 3 performers left to be revealed. I hope they saved the best for last

If I were Rihanna and/or Pink, I'd really step up my game because the show is wide open to steal.

If they don't, I think this is going to be dullest show in years.

I trust Pink to put on a good show. She doesn't need to try hard to steal the show, she just goes with her guts...To me though, it's all about Alicia Keys - she doesn't go for extravaganza and big numbers a la Beyonce but she knows how to put on a simple and slick performance. After Elements of Freedom, I've got high hopes for the new LP so better not disappoint me AK

1 WEEK TO GO! Hopefully, they'll keep announcing new performers. I'd like at least 3 artists to be added to the line-up.

Btw, MTV uploaded some VMA's related polls yesterday
Most Memorable Perfomance of the past 5 years (Adele, Eminem/ Rihanna, P!nk, Jay-Z/ Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Timbaland/ Justin Timberlake and...The Jonas Brothers)
and Best VMA's debut of the past 5 years (Lady GaGa, Rihanna/Chris Brown, Katy Perry, Adele, The Throne and Justin Bieber)

Also, MTV apparently asked some artists what "the most epic VMA's performance" is and they voted for Britney's 2001 'Slave 4 U' performance. I happen to prefer her 'Oops' performance, but I guess both were great.

So, what's your favorite VMA's moment? Mine has to be 'Like A Virgin'/ 'Hollywood' with Madonna, Britney, Christina and Missy Elliott.

Alicia Keys released another promo for her VMA's performance, but this one also includes a short snippet of her lead single!! I love the sound of it! It's catchy!

Not being funny but how is Lady Gaga - Paparazzi not on that list? Surely it was better than The Jonas Brothers..

I don't know really. Maybe it's because they included her 'Paparazzi' performance on the 'Best VMA's debut' poll.

well actually he got big when the public heard his mixtape (nostalgia, ultra) that he released without his label's knowledge or permission, his label had put him on the shelf for several years and he was writing for other people, he decided enough was enough

im hoping he sings 'bad religion' or 'pyramids', my favs off the album
