Solid in long jump, just need a good javelin now.
Hoping Katarina can do better - she did 6.81m to win the World Juniors last month.

Jess obeyed the "first rule" of the three attempt long jump in the heptathlon.
Get a safe distance on the board, it takes the pressure off the next two. Try too hard on the first two and get a "no jump," you're in serious trouble, as was one of her main rivals.

It will be almost a Cathy Freeman moment when she's on the podium. Obviously not the history but the biggest golden moment of the games so far.

She is a tremendous athlete - I just think that any individual who can excel at so many different disciplines has got to be pretty much a sportswoman of the highest calibre, perhaps moreso that a super-athlete who is brilliant in his/her own sport but in no other.

She is amazing imo. Compared to so many Olympic athletes she is tiny and yet look at her acheivement!! Wow..........just wow!!

If she can grab gold tonight it will be my favourite medal of the games.

Watching her over the last couple of days it looks as though she's bulked up.
This has obviously helped with her shot & javelin but hasn't effected her other events. Indeed she seems to be better than ever.

It's just strange when you see some of the other skinny, lanky girls along side her and wonder how they compete.
I guess that's why they have preferred events. Some are better at high jump/long jump. Some better at sprinting/hurdles. Some at distance/stamina. Some at strenght.

Jess is the complete all rounder though.

I agree. This is why I was so interested in the multi-discipline events.

I thought the same - she is in amazing shape - her shoulders etc are just awe inspiring. Watched her today at the stadium and was in complete awe.

Is it just me that feels a bit annoyed how it seems about her and that's it. They don't seem to care about the other athletes.

She is one of our best athletes and a huge medal chance, so I think it's fair enough.

Yes, I'd agree with that, Mo Farrah is coming up later and they've made a big deal about him in the 1500 final.

They've had VTs on Mo. They've had pre-recorded interviews with Rutherford and Thomlison and right now with Ohuruogu.
They've mentioned several times tonight that it's a double header with Jess and Mo.

That's what makes her, for me, the outstanding woman athlete of the games.
