My Panasonic Viera TX-42G20 BA occasionally switches itself off and back on again but not very often. When it happens it is generally very soon after initially switching on.When this happens the light stays green and a clicking sound can be heard probably from the switch mode power supply.Also when the set is left in standby this same clicking sound can still occasionally be heard. I am not sure whether this is normal because my Samsung plasma also does the same thing only when this happens you can actually see the screen light up slightly for a few seconds and then hear another click and go off. Are there any particular reasons for this phenomena? Also whilst on the subject of these two sets. The Panasonic has an on-off switch on the side allowing the set to be properly switched off whilst the Samsung has no such switch. With the Samsung you either leave it in standby or switch it off from the wall socket. So the question is when purchasing a new set , should you go out of your way to look for a set with an on-off switch or does it not really matter?
