Gone from a HTC to Samsung Galaxy S 2

Hi guys,

After having problems with my HTC Sensation (4 handsets) Orange decided to give me my Galaxy, which i got today.

I'm still trying to work out a few things and was wondering if someone can give me tips (can't search the forum as my phone won't let me).
First off, I've managed to sync my contacts to Google but instead of having one contact name/number per person, i have them 4 times. It's probably something silly I've done but i can't figure it out. Also i like using Acalender rather then the one i get with the phone but for some reason i can't sync it with Facebook!

Also does the Galaxy not have an option to change the skin?

Any help would be great

Go onto contacts, press the menu button then select from the menu contacts to display and it should be logical from then on.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion but that hasn't solved my problem as my contacts are still x4.

Did you untick phone, sim and all others. Just leave google ticked to just display google contacts. Also log into google on your pc to see if the contacts are duplicated on google itself. Then just delete the duplicated ones.

If you look at the contact there should be a symbol on the right, i.e 'g' for google. This will give you an indication of where the phone is getting the contacts from. It could be the sim, the phone, facebook, etc.
If you have multiple symbols then do as jabbamk1 says

I am guessing There are multiple contacts due to the various sources gmail, hotmail, facebook, etc There should be an option to link the contacts like there is on the HTC.

There's only one symbol next to the names & that's for Google! Can't see an option to untick anything.

I was hoping it would be the same as the HTC. If it is, then I'm missing it lol.

Ive had this a few times when moving from phones or flashing ROMs.

Log into GMAIL on your PC (ie through a browser). Go to contacts and there should be an option in one of the dropdowns to 'merge duplicates'. Once youve done this it should then filter down and reflect the changes on your phone

I dont have an s2 but the best place for advice would be the xda forums (Google "xda galaxy s2"). You will find loads of hints and tips there specific to your phone along with tech help. Xda members are usually a pretty helpful bunch
