I agree that he doesn't play but I will add "not a lot". He does play it a bit and it doesn't have a lead because it's a radio one.

If it was a radio one, it would still have a lead plugged in which would go to a transmitter strapped to his belt. I can't see one. Can you?

dunno about the second song, but tabby was NOT playing more than words, I play that and can tell you definitivly, he was not playing it.

Is it getting on anybody else's nerves that he sell himself as a "musician" "Playin in a band" then plays a few notes in the intro, flings his guitar to the side a sings without it. Peter has (had) much more musical talent.

He is only playing chords.........he said so himself last night.

Tabby is not playing live.

There's moments where he isn't even plucking it yet sounds are miraculously coming out of it.

Even when he is lightly strumming it, his finger movements just don't match up with the sounds coming out.

It's a prop. I can't see how people can seriously defend his guitar playing skills, when on the show he simply isn't playing it.
I'm wondering if people genuinely do accept this but are too stubborn to admit thsi and carry on defending him on this score.

I would have thought it's obvious to most people he isn't playing the damn thing.

Busted and McFly rarely play their guitars live either. I have heard Tabby play a burst of guitar on ITV2 so he can play well. I dont expect most young people notice or even care. Bit sad really.

Saying that Busted and McFly don't play their guitars either, doesn't suddenly elevate Tabby to their level.....

well to be fair Mcfly ALWAYS play their guitars live and also sing live.

He obviously lays down backing tracks and plays along with them at certain points, not very well admittedly, but probably as it's not something he's done before.

Tabby can play guitar, he has done on ITV2 and others on here have heard him live and can testify to it.

The problem I have is Sharon's team have completely messed the whole thing up, instead of either leaving the guitar out, or letting him play it live, they've made a hash of the whole thing and left Tabby up for ridicule.

Tabby has never been a solo artist, to my knowledge, before this competition. He turned up for the audition as the front man of a band, that's obviously how he sees himself and how he is most comfortable performing. Whether he should or should not have ditched his band has been done to death in the early days on here, so I won't go over old ground. Suffice to say he took a chance that was offered him and is doing his best as a solo artist.

When I watch him I see the front man in a band, hopefully that is what he will become after XF, whether he gets a record deal or he goes back to playing the clubs, he's a front man, pure and simple.

He does play in parts, and that I don't mind. But if he's going to come out for something like More than words and not play a note, don't bring the guitar - THAT p***** me off.

As does having the audience sing half the song for you - yep, great performance, good live act, how many records is it going to sell?

No he doesn't

He uses a lead patch only, and switches between that and "off". The few parts he does play (and they VERY are few), he plays live. Hence the fact that his guitar parts differed between the renditions of Living One a Prayer (there was a harmonic squeal in the second that wasn't in the first, and he also used the mic as a slide on the second). I've been playing in live bands for ten years - it's easy to spot what's live and what isn't. Most of the guitars aren't him - but the occasional lead breaks are, and are live. Why there was a lead hanging out of the transmitter pack on his strap is beyond me - but shouldn't affect anything.

The guy can play! as I have seen it with my own eyes when he was in Petronella.

Its just a shame that Sharon and Co didn't take the brave step to actually let him play something completely live from start to finish.

i have been saying this for weeks, but certain people on here just don't want to listen. he did not play more than words, therefore in that instance he should not have brought the guitar out with him. i was disapointed about that, but we don't know for sure whose idea it was to use that prop.

Agreed, although a lot of singer/guitarists feel uncomfortable on stage without one. Perhaps it was a big wooden security blanket for that one?
