SONY KV-24LS35U Widescreen
I am looking to get a new telly for the lounge. The room is quite small (currently got 4:3 21") so I'm leaning towards a 24" widescreen. Does anyone have the sony?

Don't get a 24" W/S. It will not be as tall as your 21" 4:3 set so when watching 4:3 programmes the picture will be smaller.
If you are used to watching a 21" screen a 24" will seem small. A 28" screen will be slightly taller than you current one aswell as much wider. My living room is not very big and my seating position is quite close to the TV and my 28" is about the right size (used to have 21"). I have a JVC 28" flatscreen which cost £490 which is about the same price as the Sony 24". |

The only problem I have is that the tv sits on a brickwork stand. There isn't enough room for the back of a 28" to fit. Is the JVC set you have the WFT1? I recently bought this for my sister. It is a fantastic tv for the price!

well If all you can get is a 24" WS then get that.
it will be different for a bit as its a completely different ratio, but the extra width would be worth it over a 21" 4:3. how much is it out of curiosity? |

Well that's a good price for a Sony.... also consider the Panasonic 24" widescreen. As mentioned, a 24" widescreen is really more like a 19" 4/3 height wise but wider of course.
Sony and Panasonics are reasonably easy to get into the engineers menu should you need to make any minor geometry adjustments. Many widescreen TVs need a bit of tinkering to get the shape and modes all working nicely. |
