BBC America will be showing four documentaries starting this Saturday on "The Science of Doctor Who".
Here's a trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Es5aWOR5QE

Looks quite interesting. I've probably heard most of the science before, but I'd like to watch it nevertheless.

Except there's one problem. WE DON'T GET TO SEE IT!

Why the hell does America get this and we don't at all?
I assume the UK will eventually get it, but why is America getting to see this this weekend and the BBC over here still hasn't even acknowledged the series' existence?

Watch out for it on BBC4 maybe?

I've got a book about the science of Dr Who, it's really good and I highly recommend you look for it. By Paul Parsons with a foreword by Arthur C. Clarke

I am totally outraged. Let's all get together and invade America.

(Oops, you can get arrested for saying stuff like that nowadays, can't you?)

I am already in my canoe, rowing across the pond to deliver my outrage in person.

I never thought something would piss me off more than America getting Miracle Day first...

Damn it all to hell!

(Just thought I'd throw in a bit of rage too)

Really really want to see this but BBC America is not technically the BBC so we'll have to rely on their goodwill to send it our way.

Maybe because it was made by BBC America, and not the BBC?

But that's ridiculous!
Steven Moffat is in it!
He lives in Britain!
So do a few more people I've seen in the trailer!
They come over here and steal our scientists and science fiction writers and go back to America to entertain the Americans with a documentary about a British science fiction series!

RAGE!

...........In all seriousness, can anyone over here get BBC America on sky or something?

Haha...

Calm down, dear... It's only a documentary (about a show that is practically part of British culture, and doesn't need the lifting in the public's eyes here that it does in America...).

But I'd love to see them - perhaps they will be in the DVD release? Or shown nearer the 50th Anniversary?

Its being billed as an alternative to the Olympics in the 'States.

The BBC won't show it while the Olympics are on.

It'll be screened as a tie in when the new series starts in the Autumn.

Why can't people have a little patience

Rage is good!
...but yes, I think we will get them later on. Nevertheless, the fact that the Americans have stolen our scientists for an American documentary is a good excuse for OUTRAGE!

Because we want it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would make sense to have it shown as a tie in but I have a couple of reservations about that: internet chatter suggests an air date for episode 1 as 25th August which doesn't leave a lot of time to put it into the schedule (it doesn't appear in online TV guides up to 15th August) and BBC America is as American as NBC, CBS etc. It shows a range of UK programmes but it's a US not UK operation. BBC America also shows Primeval, we all know that'll never turn up on BBC1.

Ill be watching it through my download site I use.

I see again they are being disrespectful by omiting the classic series yet again!

Stop being so blinking sensible. Remember where you are - the DS DW forum is no place for measured responses.

Speaking personally, my rage has never been so outed.

(I didn't get arrested for inciting an invasion of America - yet. )

(Sorry, Dan, I had to edit out your icons because it wouldn't let me put mine in. Now I am even more outraged.)

Obviously it wont be as big in America as it's not being held there but surely they have coverage of the Olympics across the pond??!! After all, I remember there was loads of coverage of the last Olympics on the BBC, I think it was in China?

I believe what they mean is that if you don't want to watch the olympics, tune into BBC America instead. I think NBC are showing the olympics over there (a fb friend of mine keeps complaining about the quality of the coverage)
