I'm sure she was being herself - a self centered pathetic me me me person with a very negative and self focused manner.

I don't think it's at all clear that she was being genuine. How can we account for the bug trial, in which she played a mean game of cards despite her "trauma", and was royally entertained at Sophie's efforts to win meals, almost mocking her with laughter to her face. Similarly, if I was scared of heights I would be the first to thank and (over)praise Sophie for climbing that ladder for me - I wouldn't have a go at her for not being as special as I was!

Fair enough, some people think she wasn't shamming, and that changes their response to her. But too many aspects of her behaviour don't add up for me to share that view.

I can see that point of view,, but if she was shamming, why walk?. Sometimes people laugh when they are scared though. its a defense mechanism. I just dont see Natalie as someone to hate thats all, more like someone who needs to get some inner stength from somewhere. as I have said, she did the right thing by walking, and it is probably better for her shes out of the show.
I did feel sorry for Sophie when the rest of the 'gang' derided her efforts, especially Sheila, thought that was most unfair, especially as Sophie got them some 4 meals out of five!.

Ah yes...the card game....She was quick off the mark. And made sure Sophie got the bad ones even though she knew she had no intention of eating anything.....

I suppose Sophie had a bit of an unfair advantage with the card game, I mean she's used to eating disgusting things that would make most other people sick..... she did go out with Mark Bosnich, afterall.

the glee that natalie showed by not playing fair in the eating trial put the nail in her coffin, they played snap, which nat won the most hands of, she had no intention of eating any bugs so why didnt she give the easier things to sophie, i.e. the ants, but no she wanted to see sophie fail, she wasnt worried about failing herself but she so desperately wanted to see sophie fail, she acted like she is a spoilt child

Oh, I know the laughing when scared thing can happen - happened to me when I was little, and I was told my uncle had died - all I can say was that Natalie didn't look that way to me. She looked - to me - as if she was having a good time at the expense of someone else that she didn't particularly like. She didn't seem to feel any kind of misery throughout that trial. She seems completely self-absorbed without being remotely self-conscious. But I could be wrong.

Others have suggested she's walking now because the money is in the bag, and so has no further reason to stay. Or that she overheard a backstage person talking about her reception in the UK papers and doesn't want the indignity of being first out. I personally have no idea why she's walked - guess we'll see in the interview tonight (if there is one)!

I do agree. Perhaps I should have said "far enough after the 3rd trial". Personally, I'd seen enough by then - She couldn't even do the bridge. We knew it was getting to her.

Yes I understand that some people have different capabilities to others, but the difference is that Natalie had not an ounce of guts or determiniation about her. It was always all about her and no real thought of the wellbeing of the others. And yet she had the gall to accuse Sophie of being selfish with her "me, me, me" accusations.

Not one bit sorry that she's gone and I'm glad that at least the majority of the BP saw through her.

It's perfectly obvious that Natalie was never going to let herself be degraded in the slightest anyway - she effectively didn't compete in order to maintain her concept of what dignity is. And she's never had a bad public image prior to this, beyond a few miffed column inches about rock star wives. So I just don't see any motivation or appetite for her degradation as an end in itself. Fash had a lot of trials, and he came out of the series more popular than when he went in. If anything I think she was being voted for to punish her clique by making them go hungry, because there was damn little entertainment to be found in her trials, in the end.

There might well have been an element of that too, pony, but, just going by the posts in this forum, it seems obvious that lots of people wanted to see Natalie degraded.

Of course I do see what you are saying, but I still think the responsibility is less to do with the great british public, and more to do with Natalie doing this to herself. When the show started, the hostility towards Paul Burrell was both long standing and strong - but all he needed to do to win people over was stand in a dark hole for 5 minutes, and get a chest from the other end of a rope. It's not that hard to get the sporting effort vote. It's not that hard to change a perception. It's (in my opinion) not that people are so mean spirited, or want to see a broken degraded girl, it's just that Natalie was unwilling to lift a finger to help herself, and therefore has raised a lot of ire for spoiling a good show.

After all, we all know she's as tough as old boots - she's famous for her catfights and public slanging matches with celebrity beauties. Perhaps if she can't take it, she shouldn't dish it out!

she brought it all on heself, if she had told everyone in the camp the whole truth of her trails instead of her making out that she really tried when we know she didnt it could have made a difference,....look at kerry she didnt do well at her trails but at least she did really try

I think that's at the heart of most posts I see here.....the sense of outrage at the inability of the rest of the camp (except Sophie) to see what she was up to, caused quite a few people (well this one anyway) to keep voting until the rest of the camp could see her antics for what they were. If they had sussed her after one trial, I probably wouldn't have bothered with her after that, preferring to see someone else go through the torture......

What I found odd was when Brian left the camp, he watched the footage back, and even then he didn't seem to be annoyed with Nat for not trying hard enough - just banged on about her phobias and how hard it was for her.
Wonder how considerate she was to him around his bereavement?

When I suggested that a lot of viewers wanted to degrade Natalie, I was not suggesting that she had not brought it on herself. She did herself no favours, there can be no doubt about that. It didn't make me want to degrade her, but it did prompt that response in lots of viewers.

I know this sounds mean, but I'm serious. What Natalie needs are a good few dinners. She needs some meat on her bones. Once she's beefed up a bit, got rid of her therapist, got rid of all the lackies that buzz around her telling her how wonderful she is, I'm sure that girl would be a better and stronger individual. She needs to experience real, every day life as we all live it. Any small hurdle and she collapses both physically and mentally.

I don't doubt for one minute that she felt weak and giddy. That woman has no fat reserves at all. She looks so frail that I'm sure if you blew in her direction, she'd fall over. She came across as so up herself and used to everyone making excuses for her. I can't wait until they all come out of the jungle and start their individual mag interviews. I'm sure they'll all start expressing how pathetic she was.
