I know this is a VERY bold statement to make however I have to say at the beginning i wasn't a massive fan of the album however listening to it again every single is terrific, they are all feel good songs. I think its an album people will appreciate in later months or even years. I think it is just an album that came at the wrong time, when album sales etc are on the decline along with poor promotion. I think the album is actually of a high standard in terms of the POP RnB market it was aimed at. Maybe people will come to appreciate it more in the future, as its a great pop record.

Anyone agree? would love all opinions

Oh excellent I can see this going the same way as the "worldwide smash" thread.

Im not talking about sales in this, what i mean is it will be respected by music fans of an album full of great pop songs. It is due to the current market we r in it is saturated with pop dance music.

No, it won't. I think Alexandra is massively talented but the material on Heartbreak On Hold is very generic and forgettable. A lot of it sounds like its inspired by other artists' hits or sounds like rejects from Rihanna! It's sad because Alexandra is so much better than the material on the album. She needs to bring something much much stronger with her third album.

Although i like the album, It sure as heck aint no or nowhere near Come and Get It, if we are looking at the angle of quality songs before their time with a cult fanbase!

Dont think it'll become a classic but with a few big performances e.g X Factor this fall - more people may get it... the thing with this album, other then music followers and fans, nobody knows the album is out.

The album was launched after an underperforming single and the week the album was released it had zero promo.

I do agree, it's got a lot of good songs but she totally took the wrong direction for what people was wanting and expecting.

I know what you are saying and the album is deffo being more respected on other music forums as a solid pop/dance album.

Deffo not in sales though. I have faith that she'll deffo rebound though.

She isn't stupid, nor delusional and she knows what went wrong etc

Like Misha B's Home Run is a future classic LMAOO!

Both HOH and Home Run are nowhere near classics or future classics.

HOH has alot of 'hits' on it though

Overcome had a much better chance

No, I don't mind some songs on it at the moment, but it'll most likely age horribly.

She and her voice will be the future classic, but this album will not. Personally I think some of the tracks are a little underrated, but as a whole, this album was the product of a number of unfortunate things, and I don't think it will be remembered so well....it's an odd situation, as her vocals on this album are really amazing, but it's the material that led to it's downfall amongst other things, it's not a dire album, but it's just a bit lacklustre when put in perspective, I don't think it's as good as her debut, but I wouldn't call it a terrible album either.

Has anyone ever seen Demolition Man?
It's set in the future after a giant earthquake has destroyed Los Angeles. In this future they appear to have lost music (know idea how that works) and listen to old Radio Advertising Jingles.
Only in this future could Heartbreak on Hold possibly be considered a classic and it would still be ranked below the Milky Bar song.

Um, there's nothing wrong with The Milky Bar Song thanks. It has great lyrics that are still relevant today.

The problem with the album was that she jumped on the dance bandwagon a little too late.

Love me some Lexy but no this album won't be considered a classic. It is "too much of its time" so it won't date well. In fact, I think this Heartbreak On Hold era will be forgotten about and erased out of Alexandra's back catalogue in years and years to come.

I think its pretty much safe to say (in my opinion of course) that she may well release one more album if she is lucky.... but there is no way she is going to be around "for years"

True. I think Kelis' Flesh Tone will be seen as a classic among pop fans, because it was released when dance music was still fresh, and it had a very innovative and cohesive feel to it.

Whereas Heartbreak On Hold (whilst I still enjoy it) was released far too late and it felt too much like she was jumping on the bandwagon. It's not really the most cohesive album either.

I think it will be remembered by pop fans alongside Femme Fatale and On Your Radar i.e. dance-pop albums that deserved more success. But it won't be remembered as a classic of its genre.

It's still relevant because of the good taste that's in Milky Bar. A good taste that is lacking on this record.

Brilliant segue there if I do say so myself.
