I agree with the OP. I've never liked Kate and I thought Diana was amazing.
I also agree with the_phoo that people can make threads about whatever they want. If you don't like the thread then don't bloomin click on it...
There is no law to say what the threads can and can't be about..

Why do people get vicious when somebody starts a thread on something they would like to air... a bit of back and forward debating is always good but why deride people when they start a thread on something they choose to

Diana would ask the press to back off, then would do a public appearance in a startling outfit, feel a bit bad putting this, but thats how I remember her from when I was young. It was a bit annoying, Kate seems down to earth.

LOL a sequel to Will and Kate can be When Harry met Kate

Its sad that journalist don't have enough "real" news to keep them busy.

I'm confused.
Diana - a reasonably stupid toff nanny that grabbed a chance to earn more than £50 a week.
Kate - another reasonably stupid toff who had no real vision of her purpose on God's Earth. Well done!
Camilla - a clever toff.
Fergie.

LOL Anyone can start a thread about anyone they like. I didn't really mean to criticise the OP, but I loathe the vacuuous Tamara Ecclestone with a vengeance.

But I will stick up for Kate. She's great if you compare her to Diana. She was a screwed up, neurotic mess and how her and Chas, another screwed up mess, haven't ruined William and Harry is a miracle.

William marries an attractive, sporty, common sense girl and they have everything going for them. Di never stood a chance. I'm not blaming her, after her childhood it's understandable, but soooooo needy. I dont think anyone could have made her happy. She picked up and dropped friends as often as you change your clothes.

If she hadn't been so adored and attractive, wealthy, well connected etc etc I dont think she'd have had many friends left. She was just so demanding.

Kate is just what we need. A modern addition to a hopefully drastically pruned monarchy.
I, for one, do not want to see our monarchy go, although a lot of people think it's trendy to be anti royal, but outside the heir and spare, boot the rest out.
Heck I even like Camilla. She seems to have made Chas palatable which must take endless patience with such a spoilt, pampered man. If he'd had a spine we wouldn't have had the tragedy of Di's life played out with such scrutiny.

I've gone off her.

And her sister looks more and more like an old hag every week!

You should do less thinking then, it's not doing you any favours if you're constructing paranoid judgmental fantasy situations.

I'm sure both of them weep themselves to sleep over your views right after they are done being shagged senseless by their wealth suitors. Or you know. they don't and live lives of priviledge and luxury.

Probably Catherine Windsor because William's surname is Windsor.

How rude... There is nothing wrong with Kate and certainly nothing at all wrong with her sister.

Well I find Kate irritating. It's a personal opinion, which last I heard, I was perfectly allowed to form. Shall I go to the Tower for saying so?

It seems that Karl Lagerfeld shares the same opinion about Pippa as me, so I'm in good company

Look at Pippa's face closely, it's starting to look way older than her years, that's all I'm saying. She ain't all that. And she lets herself be photographed with idiots, such as that guy that was waving the gun about in Paris. Silly girl!

Having met Princess Diana and spending a little time with her I found her to be a very nice person who sat and talked to the disabled young adults for over an hour. She treated them all with respect and that's enough for me.
Katherine is her own woman and comes across as a decent person. Why do we need to find fault and be so abusive about her?

Karl Lagerfeld doesn't have much room to talk, though, does he? He himself seems like a bitter old man, who in his old age has to slag off young women, because he seems unhappy.

Pippa can't really help how she ages, can she? It's a disgrace when people are so blatantly judged by their looks, I guess pretty and youthful people are only allowed to exist.

I think there has been a HUGE PR campaign to get Kate accepted by the public. Every day in the newspapers we see Kate wearing this dress or that dress etc. She doesn't seem to do much charity work but constantly every item she wears is being itemised and priced in the Daily Mail!! Never realised she spent hundreds on her hair and thousands on her dresses and when you realised that a lot of people now worry about paying their electric bills and mortages it does become irritating to see someone wearing for example a fifty thousand pound necklace etc!! If I read another Camilla and Kate article in the papers I will throw up!!!! Camilla and Kate are being pushed down our throats constantly and it is not making her /them more popular, quite the opposite. Find the Kate and William living in a cottage in Wales without staff hilarious. It is a FARMHOUSE and they have spent millions redecorating their apartments in Kensington Palace!! Yes, they are one of us!! Do not think so, somehow!!!

I don't understand it either. I've not heard/seen any reports about Kate, The Duchess of Cambridge being rude or arrogant to anyone waiting to see her.

I agree.

There are some people in this thread who really should get lives. And stop focusing so much on what other people have or how they live. It's all very sad.

But would we have to have a President if we got rid of the Royal Family? Why not just have the elected Prime Minister act as Head of State (with no title) for as long as they are in power.

I'm not a fan of David Cameron by any means, but I'd rather have him as Head of State, elected by the people, than someone who got the role due to an accident of birth.

As as for all the charity work done by the Royals. If I was given a choice of palaces to live in, first class travel, top chefs, dressers, unlimited clothing allowance, personal hairdresser etc etc, then I'd happily spend my working week visiting as many charities as anyone wanted me to do, not to mention the gallery openings, state dinners etc. And before anyone says they work all hours, I'm sure if it was all added up, the average Royal doesn't put in any more hours over the year than the average working Brit ... and some considerably less.

That is greatly appreciated locally, I can assure you - and the Princess never fails to acknowledge the people that have turned out to see her. How is that 'fake'? She's always on a strict timetable over her two days, never able to 'run late' or linger because she has somewhere else to go.
Does she? I lived there near on 20 years, and she certainly didn't visit 20 times. I recall one visit to the zoo in the 5 years that i worked there. Not knocking her at all, as I think she is the best out of all of them - but I would question that she visits that frequently.

I think you will find it was Prince Charles who went on tv and spoke to Dimbleby (1994 ) and spoke about his affair with Camilla before Diana did her interview with Bashir(1995)

And it also be noted that Diana didn't call herself "queen of hearts"

I believe bandwagon jumping "Call Me Tony" coined that phrase.

The Queen's descendants, unless styled HRH Prince or Princess carry the name of Mountbatten-Windsor. Generally British HRH don't use a surname but if they did, it would be Mountbatten-Windsor. The Queen changed it from just 'Windsor' after marrying Prince Philip but it only affects male line of descendants

Philip's surname is Mountbatten. Unless the Queen took his surname as the first one perhaps. I suppose I was thinking about the surname from the Queen's side when making that post.
