Does anyone reckon there's any truth that she might not be leaving after all?

i hope she stays, i think shes one of the only real characters in EE at the moment. She is dramaically underused though. she needs a real storyline, one that doesnt involve phil or den, and one thast really shows how good she is. she was never really given the cance after phil left because they just tosed her to the side, and let her be with the likes of den.

I think if they gave her a central storyline, then her character could still work. she is a valued character and if she does go i will be dissapointed.

There is a real chemistry between Kate and Chrissie at the minute. It's a real love hate relationship.

Yeh I think theres definitely more characters in Walford more deserving of the axe than Kate Mitchell. She needs to be given a good storyline. She was great in the storyline in which she tried to get Phil done on the murder of Lisa. I'd like to see her stick around and let the writers be creative for once instead of keeping characters in the same rut all the time and then axeing them because "they've run their course"

I like that they seem to have formed some sort of respect for each other now, rather than having the two at loggerheads all the time. It would have gotten very boring.

I wondered if they'd reconsider. I hope she stays as she and Chrissie work really well together, and her character could be developed into something interesting (rather than Phil's love interest :yawn.

I love the Kate and Chrissie partnership, it works really well! I hope she does stay, she's a really talented actress, even though her storylines have been terrible - why was she paired with the man who set up her husband? It's stupid!

What, after she gave his daughter away to Lisa?

I still think bringing Phil back would be a mistake on the same scale as when they brought Den back. Phil is wanted for armed robbery, he was stitched up perfectly - caught IN the bank with a gun - and theres no way he could come back without being arrested and sent down for 10 years.

To the original question - I really hope Kate does stay, like others have said she is a great character and just needs some decent storylines.

I thought it had been confirmed that Phil is not being invited back?

i think Kate would be great if she went back undercover as a cop. She could use the nail bar as her decoy and watch all the "new gangsters" that are on their way in. Jill Ha'penny would act out this role extremely well

The only way they could realistically bring back Phil was if Dennis set up Big Den after finding out he slept with Zoe. Him and phil could have a you scratch my back and I scratch yours bit.

That still wouldn't work - Phil was caught redhanded on the premises of an armed robbery, and then escaped from jail, even the power of Den/Dennis could not get him out of that!

But I thought KH had declined to offer Steve Mc a new contract - it was reported the other week (unless that just a lovely dream I had )

Kate has been given a very raw deal.. The character is ridiculously under-used, despite her potential. Jill Halfpenny is a great actress. The writers gave her allies in, Dennis, Sharon, Lil Mo and Chrissie. All of these have been dropped, except for her friendship with Chrissie which LB almost ruined completely.

Shane Ritchie made a comment on LK TODAY about her already having left the show and how he bumped into her, he also mentioned she would still be on screens for a few more weeks!

Yep that’s right, I think she finished filming her final scenes back in early November. That's probably why she's so good on Strictly Come Dancing because she has a lot of free time on her hands now to practise.

What a shame! She should be brought back! I mean LB messed about with her character, but now her partnership with Chrissie is compelling. I agree with whoever said she should be sent undercover again.
