Jack Duckworth, Mike Baldwin, Vera Duckworth, Fred Elliott have all left Corrie in the last 5 or 6 years

Ashley Peacock was written out when the character in the tram crash and he'd been in the show for 15 years. |

I agree with the OP; in fact, many have already.

I suspect, when lying down, Marlon is Emmerdale's longest character...

There are more acting opportunities in London than there are up north.
I think the high cast turnover in EE is realistic to the area though as lots of people come and go in London whereas the lower cast turnover in Corrie and Emmerdale reflects the more settled areas that they are in set in. |

Alan Turner is the one oldie in soaps who I can't understand why he is still there, he turns up and then disappears just as quickly and no one says where he's gone, it would be nice to know where he's gone and I don't even know where he lives in Emmerdale, I think he lives with Betty but I'm not sure.
Was he even there when Betty returned from her holiday? |

I like that the fact that the longer standing older characters become recurring to lighten the work load, it's good that they don't have to be pentioned off and quite often provide light relief.

I do remember reading that Richard Thorp (Alan) had moved closer to the Leeds studios a few years ago, so that he could make more appearances in the show... a shame that the incoming producer then decided that the oldies should take a back seat! |

I doubt we will ever see him brought to justice, nor Carl King for murdering his dad and another bloke, can't remember his name, however I think that one was an accident, with any luck he'll murder that Robbie
