And now with the Alan Titchmarsh show, looks as if Luke has become one of the main go-to people (Paris Lees looks like the other one) the media turn to if they want a transgender person to comment on a story.

I am sure he is much happier talking about transgender issues than doing interviews about Becky's BMI.
He said he wanted to help other transgender people, and we can see how far that has already been true from facebook/ youtube etc.

) If it goes well I hope it gives him the encouragement to do more stuff like this and give a voice to the vast majority of trans people who aren't wacky eccentrics or who've studied gender politics until it comes out of their ears. Making something ordinary takes away the scary bit and I've always thought Luke's biggest selling point was just being the ordinary boy next door.Quote:
It certainly does Wonkey. It's nice to see that Luke is receiving the appreciation he deserves. His appearance in Big Brother served to educate a lot of people about the issue (including myself) and it's great that he is now receiving the recognition he deserves. It's funny how Channel 5 showed no interest in him once he won - not even a Winner's Story. They may live to regret that decision. I know who I would rather see on my TV screen than some of the people THEY think make interesting viewing.

Now closed his twitter account because of the horrific level of abuse, at him and Becki. What is wrong with people?

Why malarkey would think that Luke needs to buy followers I have no idea. It is a ludicrous suggestion and, in any case, what would he have to gain?

Dr. Detroit on Twitter is reporting that ************** is spreading a faked/copied article about Luke buying Twitter followers:

Last night he withdrew the claim and said he accepted that Luke had left Twitter because of the personal abuse towards his family, but today he has come back and repeated it, complete with false supporting evidence that he MUST know is false. |

As you can see by the fact that both your links were blocked, BB Extra has such a history of malicious lies that you are no longer allowed to link him to a DS post. The damaging thing is that he LOOKS semi-official.

The figures are plain false. Luke has had between 30,000 and 35,000 followers pretty consistently since he came out of the house, which is exactly what you would expect: fewer than Lauren, say, but more than Luke S. Certainly nothing out of the ordinary in BB terms: Jay has over 100,000 and Josie has a quarter of a million. This odious man is claiming that he jumped from 25,000 to 40,000 overnight, which is plainly completely false. I wasn't paying attention, but I think the number did go up slightly after he had been featured in the New Statesman and various online media sources with reference to the Burchill row. It is incredibly depressing that someone can put straight lies on twitter and be believed - I see that the odious Luke Marsden is saying that it must be true because he was offered followers for money, as if that proved anything - and there seems nothing we can do about it. This link won't work directly but in the comments section Benedict weighs in supporting Luke:Last night he withdrew the claim and said he accepted that Luke had left Twitter because of the personal abuse towards his family, but today he has come back and repeated it, complete with false supporting evidence that he MUST know is false. http://www.**************.co.uk/?p=8410 Quote:
You're an idiot. He didn't jump from 20k to 45k. He's been on around 35k for a while. I've seen it gradually go up. So get your fact straights and, if you believe it to be FACT then bring forward the proof. Otherwise, you may well have a legal battle on your hands. Also, just because someone has never tweeted nor has any follower is not an automatic indication that it is necessarily a 'fake' or a 'purchased' follower. I have quite a few followers who seem to fit that mould. I have never spent a penny on twitter!

BB xtra has pulled the clearly ridiculous figures and substituted some much lower ones. He must know that he has come over really badly. We may never know why he suddenly laid into Luke.

Some other sites get the "*****" treatment too. I can't remember examples off hand, but a "history of lies" didn't seem to be a common factor. |

What shows that's the reason for the "block"? (Just wondering.)

I'm sure you're correct on that score. I don't remember the exact numbers but I'm pretty sure Luke has been somewhere over 30,000 for several months - the numbers have gone over 40,000 in the last couple weeks - presumably as a reaction to the Closer magazine article, which was then stolen and corrupted by the Daily Mail and also the reaction to Julie Burchill's article.
On a positive note, nice to see Benedict facing him down and Adam backing Benedict. And equally nice to see Couch Potatoes taking such a strong line. "Go and volunteer in a shelter or something" was my favourite line of the dispute. |

By Julie Burchill's article, do you mean the one about Suzanne Moore being driven (temporarily) off Twitter?

Luke has consistently had between 33K and 35K followers since August and has gradually crept over the 40K mark since the beginning of Celebrity Big Brother. There has never been a dramatic spike in new followers .

There's been an extraordinary amount of back-pedalling! The story is now unrecognisable from 24 hours ago. So basically now all he can say is that Luke allegedly had a sudden influx of fake followers. Whoop de doo.
I imagine pride is preventing Mr Unmentionable from doing the decent thing by taking down the whole story and giving Luke a full apology. Oh and his Twitter account is now private, which it certainly wasn't this morning, and has a No Retweeting notice on it. Yeah, right. If he doesn't want his muck spreading he shouldn't poop it out in the first place. ![]() Ah well, let's all think happy thoughts and wish Luke all the best for his encounter with Alan Titchmarsh.

Back on twitter, which is as it should be if he can stick to his vow not to care about the abuse. Nice to see Dr Detroit being so supportive to him.

![]() You have no idea how many skills I had to learn (badly) just to do it though. I did vaguely know, for example, that people upload stuff to youtube, and it isn't just a site where pixies put on videos for the rest of us to watch, but I had absolutely no idea how to do it. Did not expect to be fighting about Luke on the main forum on the very night of the CBB final. Well done Oyster for getting mud on your armour. |

Wow, 50,000 - puts my pathetic post count to shame.
Congratulations again Wonkey and thanks on behalf of all Luke Anderson supporters for your sterling defence on the main forum. Unfortunately, as my mum used to say, you can't argue with ignorance. |
