There had been loads and loads of trolling leading up to it, then BBXtra putting all that mad stuff about his twitter followers jumping from 20,000 to 45,000 'overnight', which was so obviously false that he spent the next two days taking it back a bit at a time.

But I think Luke was just fed up with the whole thing, and having someone who looked and sounded a bit 'official' telling whopping lies about him was absolutely the last straw.

Then of course people piled in and told him not to give up and let trolls drive him away. There are some weird people out there though.

I think Twitter may be making it harder for HMs to deal with the aftereffects of BB.

It can be a heady experience to suddenly have have 1000s or 10s of 1000s of followers, but you're also exposed to a lot of dislike, trolling and nastiness. Many people would find it hard to keep that from bothering them. The positive, friendly followers (and others) can be a burden too, in a way, since you won't want to disappoint them, they'll be keen to get replies, and so on.

HMs have reportedly been advised to stay away from this forum and not to read what's said about them here, and I think that's good advice (even though some HMs, such as Cameron, are able to handle it). But staying away from the small number of forum sites is a lot easier than avoiding things on Twitter when you're actively using it. (Also, this forum is pretty well moderated; Twitter is not.)

Oddly enough, you've summed up pretty well the most important bits of what I said.

To heck with it, Veri's pretty much posted the gist of what I said. The only other bit was to stay away from all those associated with Big Brother for the moment because they are primarily interested in Big Brother not Luke himself and he may get a better perspective on his relationship with Becki and his life in general without them.

I've said before that Luke was the only reason I stuck with the programme after the Luke v Lauren eviction. Much as I liked Lauren, Adam and Deana, if Luke had gone at that point I would have stopped watching altogether because I couldn't bear the nastiness that Channel 5 and Endemol seemed to revel in.

I am afraid that digitalspy must be a very unpleasant experience to a lot of ex housemates. You can see why so very few of them have stuck it out as members. Cameron seemed to be able to deal with a lot of stuff about being homophobic - I don't think he was by instinct, but as a keen member of a denomination that opposes gay sex it comes with the territory - by calmly repeating "I'm sorry that you think that", then refusing to engage further; it helped that he was a real fan until the move to ch 5, and he was happy to discuss, invariably light-heartedly, what was happening in the present series. And Victor can give it out every bit as forcefully as he gets it, and is anyway popular on the forum. But almost no one else has been able to deal with it.

I'm sure housemates do have a look - it's human nature. I know Luke once said that he hated the digitalspy forum, and who can blame him really? You come out on a high as the winner, and there are post after post about you being boring and whiny and virtually cheating. And he was the winner. Imagine Luke S having a look to see what kind of impression he had made.

To be honest, there's not much to be done about it; I think the moderation on here hits the right note on the whole. At least Luke didn't have to read endless stuff jeering unpleasantly at this gender status as he does on twitter and youtube. You can't have a discussion forum where people are only allowed to post stuff that the subject would enjoy reading. I have posted some pretty hostile stuff myself over the years. Some of it I would take back if I could.

It's official - Luke loves me.

So certain people can stick that up their juntas.

Weird uber troll on twitter who follows no one and has no followers and seems to have set up an account with no other purpose than to bombard Luke (who I certainly hope has blocked him) with particularly vicious abuse. (Occasionally Deana). The psychology of this kind of person genuinely defeats me. I imagine him sitting in front of his screen gloomily scratching his sores and wondering why no one ever rings or calls. Can he still read Luke's tweets if he is blocked? Only he seems to be following everything he says. It's quite creepy and odd.

Actually anyone can see Luke's tweets on the internet ( ) so maybe that's how this person does it.

The only way for someone to stop people other than their followers from reading their tweets is for that person to "protect" their tweets - which would be an option for Luke.

Oh, thanks. I guess he doesn't want that at the moment because there is still a sprinkling of tweets from new followers who regard him as a ts role model, one way or another.

It's very easy to see most, at least, of what a HM says without following them.

Does even having the HM in a "list" show up as following? I don't think so.

I don't know whether blocking stops someone from reading, but if it does they can read without loggin in. (And of course they can always make a new account.)

Yes, come to think of it, it is very likely that this person has a second account. There is a reason why I prefer the strange menagerie of digitalspy to twitter.

Technically no. But I am bemused to find reference to an Armenian poptart online (not on this site) and to discover:

The Armenian Poptart, or AP, is a gratuitous sex act involving a vacuum cleaner, palm leaf, gold necklace, and a shot of Patrón.”

I always thought it was funny that he never noticed that Deana was being horribly bullied by the others but he's so lovely he always thinks the best of people.

I think he was literally not in the room. There was quite an early split between insiders and outsiders, except that Deana wasn't really in either group. I think at that stage she really wanted to hang out with the other girls, but they wouldn't accept her. It took a kind of change in attitude for her to think it would be nicer to sit with the two older men outside, even though they had no interest in clothes or make up or whatever girly stuff was being discussed in the bedroom. It must have seemed to Luke and Adam that Deana was generally part of the bedroom group; they weren't to know that a lot of her part was being snubbed by them.
