2. Chanelle and Ziggy. They were the last housemates to get a lot of media attention (apart from Josie, who lucked into winning at the time when Ch 5 needed to promote their new programme). It was so obvious that Chanelle and ziggy had never been a couple at all outside the house but had held it together just long enough to sell their 'story'. (They sold it, after a bidding war, to the Daily Express, which has never shown any interest in BB stories since; I think they were royally pissed off.)
3. The ultra-hyped, sentimental goodbye on Ch 4 which made Ch 5 feel like an after-thought. Heat notably stopped featuring BB after that, and they used to actually have a banner on the cover saying 'official magazine of Big Brother'.
It is all a real shame imo, because the housemates actually got better after BB8, not worse, the tasks got more creative, there was far less focus on vacuous 'romances' (Kris and Sophie in particular were barely shown) and we have just had the two most articulate, presentable winners since Brian Dowling.
At least the housemates do more or less know the score now. They realize that the kind of unofficial (and sadly generally unpaid) fame that Luke is experiencing at the moment is as good as it gets. Still, most of us will never have nearly 30,000 twitter followers or get mobbed at nightclubs or have our own facebook fansite.”
That's a great summary! The last mainstream BB celebrity who's lasted the course is Imogen Thomas and that was hardly for the right reasons!
Interestingly, Luke clicked Like on a couple of my FB comments when we were discussing what we'd like to see him do next. That told me a lot about where his head seems to be at right now and I think he's ambitious but realistic.
I'll quote the one comment in full because I know you're not all on there:
Quote:
“Luke's in a very unique position because, if you've read the Transgenderzone.com BB blog, it's very clear how much the community's screaming out for high profile FTMs. We need to keep a reality check, though. BB isn't the gateway to fame it used to be and, thanks to stupidly scheduling against the Olympics, this year's ratings were the worst ever, sadly. Nothing's going to fall into Luke's lap but there would definitely be a gap in the market if he wanted to build a profile for himself.”
The other comment he liked was when I was the first to suggest he write a book.

Whether that's an autobiography, a general guide to being transgendered or maybe even a novel, I'm sure Luke's introverted brain would give him a talent for writing if he had a go at it. Being a BB winner, in itself, won't be so much of a selling point but he just has a fascinating human interest story to tell somehow.
