Anyway, some great news being announced tonight on FB. Luke's local radio station are going to be running some features on him (so we'll be getting a winner's story of sorts) and... I hate to sound like I'm reading his mind, but he's left this comment:

Sorry, a bit slow on the uptake, I'd forgotten there was another lobster vying for Luke's affections (I haven't been spying on twitter for very long ). I wouldn't have minded being usurped by that one.

Gulp.
An octopus is much bigger than I am and hasn't got a hard shell. I'd be far too much trouble and definitely not worth the effort.

I have. 40 words though - you can't say anything in 40 words. I kept doing drafts and finding that I was completely stuck on 42 words, so I would rephrase it and find I was still on 42 words. Not that I blame the judges - they have to read the rubbish we write.

Same. Kept removing the odd pronoun here and there then putting it back in 'cos it doesn't make sense or doesn't scan.
Ooh, you're all doing better than me. All I've done so far is think about it. I kind of got stuck thinking about all the things we learned about Luke in the house - that he's loyal to his friends, that he thinks about other people as well as himself, that he respects those who deserve respect but he'll stand up to people if he thinks he needs to whilst hating the idea of hurting other people unnecessarily. He's not perfect but he IS nice, kind, funny and a little bit naughty at times. All in all a decent, well-rounded person - and people say he was bland and boring and spent all his time sitting smoking in the garden. Now all I have to do is put it into 40 words and make it rhyme - oh heck, I don't think I'll bother

Well as a piece of prose I like it. I kept wanting to put in references to incidents like Caroline's shopping list or the turf war or the hoe down then realizing I had no room to put ANY of it.

Yes she did I believe WD. I found her to be a thoroughly unpleasant woman and something of a predator and user. I winced when I saw the photograph.
