I think you are mainly referring to Wonkey but you will find that, although Aaron wasn't her favourite (Mark was) she is always very fair and, in fact, seemed to me to be thawing towards the lovely Aaron until the other lot got in on the act and turned things nasty.

I never come here as it has a bad rep,but came here when I saw Aaron had,for a q and a session. My post may be direct and possibly even slightly defensive (lol) but rude???? If you want a definition of rude,I have seen plenty of examples here on DS,specifically about Aaron.I have not named anyone, nor used bad language.I have not made threats not abused anyone personally.I can and will leave at any time as this is not paramount in my life but I will always choose when and where I defend Aaron.Anyhoo, still over the moon for Luke A,thoroughly deserved to win for being a gent, modest and humble and a decent honest genuine person with a deep love and respect for his beautiful wifexx Proud of him xx

Well done to Luke A,I was at the final, amazing atmosphere.Shame it wasn't the same for Aaron when I was at the final the year before.Still, never mind we at Team Aaron did our bit
)))))) I do wonder what Aaron would think of what some people are now doing in the name of fandom (presumably) ... as an intelligent man he would, I hope, condemn any kind of victimisation. |

Agreed, She's I think she's very fair, even if it's a housemate she doesn't like, she'll always acknowledge that they have good points. I think this vendetta against her on twitter is really awful.

Yes, my faves - Aaron and Luke A - won two years in a row too

I agree about Aaron too. He is fundamentally a decent man and I think he would be the first to condemn the victimisation of someone who has always been fair to him even whilst disagreeing with things he has said or done. |

There is a link further up to a twitter screenshot (if that's the word) where a previously banned poster has admitted re-registering under a different name and has stated that he is planning to bait Wonkeydonkey to get her banned from DS.

They were accusing her of being sycophantic towards Aaron, when he posted on here a few days ago. Hopefully it won't happen but they are claiming to have 4 different accounts.

Sorry Ellierog, whilst we're in Luke Anderson's AT none of us are obliged to agree on any other HM in the history of BB. Many in here loved Aaron. I personally found him the least-worst winner in a series that bored me to tears. I have no interest in talking about Aaron in here other than to compare his experience to Luke's, although the situation has become personal to us because it turned into a vendetta against one of our top posters. So, to compare... BB success always seems relative to me. I doubt Aaron would have lasted a month this year (the insiders would probably have targeted him in the same way they did Benedict and Lydia). Likewise I don't think the newlywed Luke would have found a natural ally in the couples-heavy BB12. As if he would have left his lovely new bride for BB, obviously! ![]() I also think Luke can be more confident that he won on his own merits, having been in the top 3 alongside his best friends at the time. Many of Aaron's votes must have been of the Anyone But Jay/Alex variety. Luke may have picked up a few Anyone But Deana votes but I doubt there were many Anyone But Adam votes to be had. I'm wondering if C5 found Aaron so hard to work with that it was one of the reasons why they didn't want to get involved with whoever won BB13, from the Winner's Story to guest slots on The Wright Stuff (which I believe Aaron had) or, in Luke's case, a guest cookery slot somewhere on the channel. Whereas they'll chuck programme ideas left, right and centre at anyone from CBB (Paddy & Sally? Ugh.) Quote:
My point was that if they showed all of Luke's qualities perhaps he would have been more of a runaway winner in the polls like Aaron. We've seen how funny and mischievous he actually is and I'm surprised that this didn't really come across on the highlights at all. One of the main criticisms that is levelled at Luke on this forum is that he's boring and he surely isn't. I'll admit that being in that house probably squeezed a lot of the humour out of him but it still should have been shown more and I'm sure many of his best moments must have hit the cutting room floor. The moth thing and his reaction to Mr Snuggles almost seem to come out of the blue but when you get to know Luke better you realise that the Mr Snuggles stuff is a lot more typical of him than the boring, smoking in the garden character they portrayed.
As regards saying Luke won't be here in 12 months wailing about how BB ruined his life, I certainly hope not but you can still see on twitter how downright nasty some people are to him and a lot of that is simply the result of being on BB. At one time, there would have been a lot more supporters but with poor audience figures sadly the only thing that seems to stay just as high is the number of jealous, deluded, unpleasant detractors. ![]() I do remain optimistic about Luke's future happiness. Yes he has the Twitter attention seekers to deal with but he and his wife have a great way of handling them (even though, obviously, they shouldn't have to be subjected to that at all). The worst of that will hopefully die down when somebody else hits the public eye (someone more likely to take the bait). I think the FB group have done a fantastic job at keeping his spirits high and we ain't going anywhere soon! ![]() Anyway, with respect everyone, I'm not going to discuss Aaron any more in here until everything's calmed down. I'd hate it to get dragged so far off topic that our lovely AT gets locked. See ya laterz LA Army.

Interesting points Val
I'd never thought about it before but I can see the similarity between Aaron and Lydia/Benedict which may have made him an early target. Neither of them stayed around long enough for me to have major opinions on them but they seem to be similar characters in many respects. It also doesn't make sense that you've got the agent saying there's no interest in BB contestants yet the Loose Women seemed to be falling over themselves to get on the celeb show and TV/newspapers have had a great interest in people like Natalie Cassidy who weren't even popular on the show as well as Denise Welsh, Paddy & Sally yet the viewing figures aren't that different. I too am optimistic about Luke's future happiness. Becki is fab at dealing with the twitter nasties and I think Luke had plenty of practice before in dealing with criticism so perhaps they won't get to him as much as they did to Aaron. They think they're clever and original but Luke's no doubt heard it all before many times. I hope things continue to go well and I'll certainly be fighting his corner and wishing him well in the future too. |

Apologies to one & all for hi-jacking the Luke A AT but this is important to me.
I’m not above openly apologising when I’m in the wrong or have done wrong. While I have not participated in any baiting or winding up of Wonkeydonkey (I’m not sure I’ve ever entered into a conversation with her ever), I do feel I originally misread the situation and have contributed to the problem. Every once in a while I make a mistake and sometimes it’s a mistake that I am reluctant to avoid making some attempt to deal with it. With regards to the current ugly twitter/DS thing, I made the mistake of tweeting while annoyed by some posters on the Aaron Q & A thread. In the past I have been irritated by Wonkeydonkey’s, what I call, ‘feng shui-esque’ balanced posts with their massive fine detail. Why I allowed myself to heap blame unfairly on Wonkeydonkey’s shoulders I do not know. Quite frankly, I’m surprised at and disappointed in myself. Wonkeydonkey, you have my unreserved apology for my part in the ugliness (pettiness is probably just as accurate) and I thank you for your time taken in reading this. Ben the Penitent In keeping with this being an AT I feel I should mention that I'm pleased that Luke A won and that, from what I understand, he appears to support his fans as much as they support him. |

Just popped back to make sure I hadn't caused any offence and to apologise for taking the thread so off-topic earlier ![]() I think the points you make above are fascinating - and agree with you totally - it'd be an interesting MF thread topic, to take a BB winner and hypothetically put them into another BB to discuss how you think they would do against HMs from another year. I agree absolutely that Luke A and Aaron were the winners of their years but might not necessarily have won each others', although I think they were both worthy of their titles. Aaron won against a lot of opposition but, as you say, there wasn't a lot of sympathy for many of the other HMs left in the house. Luke A though, I think faced an even harder battle against what appeared to be the winner for many (Deana) from what we read, but also having to battle against the insiders. I do feel that having Adam as a strong friend and sturdy ally helped him keep his sanity. From early on I wanted Adam to win, but I also wanted Luke to win, so I was ecstatic with the final result

Here's a couple of questions rising out of Aaron's brief visit to the DS site.
Do you think the reason C5 showed so little of Luke's exploits in the kitchen and his sense of humour was to avoid the situation they had last year with Aaron being a runaway winner in the polls? We know he won anyway but do you think he would have been further ahead if they'd actually shown how funny he is not to mention the fact that from the bits and pieces I've seen of his work he is a really good chef. |

I didn't mean to chuck a grenade and run - I have been away from all IT for a few days. But I am genuinely really touched by all the support, especially from people who are not necessarily 'on my side' as well as from my fellow AT people. All of you have been incredibly kind to take the trouble, and I hope I will manage to be extra nice from now on and stop thinking that it is ok to use the English language as a weapon of war.
So thank you to absolutely everyone who has posted words of support - I didn't know where to put this except here, and I realize that some people might not see it at all. That's an interesting point that had never occurred to me. I can see that they may not have thought showing someone cooking was very interesting, but they hardly ever showed the outsiders engaging in a normal conversation; they were only ever shown when they were talking about the insiders, which was presumably for a tiny percentage of their time; ALL Luke and Adam's challenges and pranks were cut completely. You might be right and they wanted to level things up a bit by making them seem bitchier and less interesting than they were. Which would matter far less if we had access to the missing footage. It's so annoying when people say that "all Luke did was smoke and bitch". Really? All? For 16 hours a day? And Adam didn't really fare any better - there were weeks when he was hardly shown as having a conversation. |

Welcome back Wonkey! I hope you had a good break. Anywhere internet-free sounds like a great place to have been during the recent mad spell.

Hi everyone
We know Luke spoke to a publisher about writing a book and offered up a suggestion for a first chapter. Does anyone know who the publisher was or anything about them? I was wondering what sort of approach the publisher was likely take with it judging by the type of books they're known for. Anyone have any idea on this or on how likely it is to take before it makes an appearance? |

To be honest, I think all the answers to that are 'don't know'. I still think he would be best with a reputable ghost writer - the extract he wrote was perfectly nicely written and interesting, but it still didn't sound like a professional. He could do with someone like Pete Bennet's ghost writer (I have forgotten his name - he was a Guardian journalist Pete referred to as "this posh geezer") - you could hear Pete's voice all the way through, but it was notably well constructed and well reviewed. Or perhaps he really can do it all himself. At least he can put a clear written paragraph together, which puts him ahead of most BB housemates.

I doubt he'd be able to name the publisher until the contract's been signed. In fact he'd be best off touting round as many as possible to make sure he's got the best deal.
I noticed in that local paper interview he said it would start with winning BB and then go back to talk about his past. I really like that idea. I did advise him that his first chapter ought to be about one of his big defining moments so it looks like he's taken that on board. Ha ha my moment of glory! ![]() I hope he manages to do the bulk of the writing himself and only needs a ghost writer to tidy it up. I get the feeling that once he gets into the swing of things he'll really get the bug for it because he'll be able to express himself in whatever way he sees fit. |

Hmm interesting responses ladies. The ghost writer thing is difficult because I can see both sides of the argument. On the one hand, Luke is really good at expressing himself on paper (something I never guessed from what I saw in the BB house), on the other a publisher and a professional writer know more about making the story interesting and accessible to as many people as possible which (of course) is the idea.
I also agree that touting the idea round different publishers seems sensible although it doesn't seem to have happened - it seems to be one publisher only and I thought maybe someone on here might know which one it is and why they were approached. Good point Val - I think the extract we saw originally seemed to be intended to be the opening to the book but now, if the newspaper is correct, he intends to start with winning BB and then go back. I am still concerned though that there will in the end be too little interest due to the apparent reluctance of media outlets to showcase the BB winner - although the interest in Celeb BB still seems to be there. |

If it's pushed too heavily as a BB winner's book then, yes, the publishers could struggle to get major distribution. If the BB chapter is just a little prologue and the human interest angle is really strong (as I'm sure it will be) then hopefully it'll catch people's attention for all the right reasons. I'm glad he's said it means a lot to him to get it written.

Absolutely agree. It should be about Luke rather than BB but the extra impetus that came from winning should have opened a few doors/enabled a few TV interviews to get publicity for the book/sold a few more copies and just generally raised the level of interest in it but without any media profile to speak of he may struggle even to get the book published which would be a great shame.

I agree with the above. BB - is just a small part of Luke's story. Did any of you submit a mock cover for the book? I did and called it "Another Life - Luke Anderson's Story" I don't expect to win though
