I'm usually quite an upbeat person but this year it feels as though everything is getting on top of me! Mainly it is family and I am feeling that they don't care. I will get over it.
((((jeanoj))))) Hope things improve, I'm another who doesn't particularly relish this time of year ![]() I noticed Luke also put a call out to those on his FB page btw |

Aww, hugs Jean! I get where you're coming from. Christmas just tends to get very hectic and stressful and my delightful family just end up snapping at the easiest target (aka me.) So my ideal Christmas really is just one where they'll leave me alone!
I'm off out in a bit, must remember to pick up a Closer magazine (glad to see I was wrong about the 2 week Christmas edition, sorry for the scaremongering! ) I'm a bit gobsmacked at how tasteless they made the title though!I see we've survived the apocalypse. Business as usual, folks.

Has everyone read the closer magazine article? I'll try and scan it if anybody hasn't. I'm looking forward to watching the this morning interview, I presume they'll be retelling there story, like they did in closer.

I thought it was a sweet, affectionate intervew if you overlooked the hideous headlines which were nothing like what was actually said.

I was feeling very sorry for mtself! Briafly, my sister in law has dementia and last Christmas she collapsed at the dinner table and my daughter and I spent the rest of the day at A and E. This year, daughter has refused to have her as she said her Christmas was ruined last year! She said I could go but how can I leave an 86 yr old woman to spend Christmas all alone? What makes it worse, is that my daughter is one of the beneficiaries in her Aunt's will so will be fairly wealthy when the time comes. Anyway, I have booked a restaurant for the 2 of us so I hope my sister in law likes it! I am over it now

It's lovely that opportunities like this seem to be coming their way now. I wonder if this is off the back of the Closer interview but whatever it is I am very, very pleased for them.
Especially good Christmas wishes to all my DS friends

Oh dear. I hope you have a modestly nice time anyway. Your daughter maybe found it all a bit scarier than she wanted to show. And some people really don't deal very well with sitting in hospitals. My recently ex neighbour had to be taken to A & E several times in an ambulance, and every time it was me who went and sat with him. My husband, who in other ways was perfectly kind and helpful, eg in looking after his garden for months, just HATED sitting in hospital. I hope this time your S in L stays well and enjoys her dinner.

![]() I thought it was very telling that the focus was all on Becki. Luke being a BB winner was just an afterthought - totally different to how the interview would have been handled even a couple of years ago. It was a lovely surprise to see that they've already started the consultations for sperm donation. I thought they were going to leave it a couple of years. As much as he must have hated living as a female, it must still be a heartbreaking sacrifice to know he would have to give up his chance of having a biological child. Still, he'll be an amazing dad and I have a funny feeling there'll be a lot of baby talk round these parts very soon! If they're both doing This Morning together then that could well be what they're going to talk about. They do tend to handle the human interest stories very well (avoid their FB page though!) I'm sure Luke will let us know the date as soon as he knows it himself. Well I hope you all enjoy/survive/tolerate Christmas as best you can. I've got the fairy lights up in my fallout bunker and enough emergency Pringles to survive until New Year. |

A little too much information in there for my liking. I no more want to know the intricacies of Luke and Becki's sex life than I want to know any of yours. They have sex, it's unconventional, Becki has no complaints. I'm happy to leave it at that!

I've got the fairy lights up in my fallout bunker and enough emergency Pringles to survive until New Year. ![]() To be honest I thought it was really strange that it mostly read like one of those readers own human interest stories rather than a minor celeb-ish one (I have to be careful here as I know Luke insists he is not a celeb but you get my drift). There are people though who are not concerned about having biological children just as there are those who are happy to donate eggs or sperm for someone else to raise their child. The important thing is not whether he is the biological father but whether he acts like one and this is by far the harder job. Everyone always assumes that they will be able to have biological children but this is not always the case for all sorts of reasons. I really do think Luke will make an amazing dad if him and Becki are able to be parents, however that happens but you can't take anything for granted. I agree that This Morning usually handles stories like this really well and it would be great if something more came from the interview such as regular slots for his take on transgender stories in the news or, of course, a cookery slot so fingers crossed for all of that. I hope you enjoy/survive/tolerate Christmas as appropriate too Val

I agree with your comments re Luke and Becki's article in Closer but it was good to read it.
I hope you all had a very nice Christmas - mine was a bit better than expected but, oh, so quiet! All the very best to you all for 2013! |

I hope you all had a very nice Christmas - mine was a bit better than expected but, oh, so quiet! All the very best to you all for 2013! I was so knackered yesterday! I had to drive to see my parents - 2 hours - then be incredibly jolly while putting out and eating lunch and visiting my ma in a nursing home, then drive back through the rainy dark - another 2 hours - then be incredibly jolly through a full christmas dinner. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Me and my siblings ended up sitting up until stupid o'clock watching silly things on youtube and drinking everything in the house, so by this morning I was practically dead. Back to work tomorrow! Probably best for my liver. |
