Once upon a time, no doubt names such as "Elisabeth Sladen" and "Nicholas Courtney" would have been flying around
Perhaps it's William Russell's turn! But outside of Who, there are so many names it could be. But the secrecy does lean me towards Wholumni. Here's hoping

Well we could speculate anybody at this stage. especially the definition of iconic doesn't really help to narrow it down.

Nothing in that DS article to point to someone iconic from DW history, could be anybody really.
Though yes, smart money would just be on someone returning from the past... we'll have to see in a few hours! |

Even if it's not a past Who actor, using 'iconic' makes me think it's casting for a memorable role. A future Master, perhaps. But that's a long shot at this stage.

Matthew Waterhouse with a sensational return for Adric???
I am looking forward to this! Can't Wait! Although why does it have to be at midnight? |

I'm not holding my breath in the hope that it is a past Doctor returning. But if it is any one of them prior to Tennant and Ecclestone, then there is hope that they will be aiming to get them all back.

Probably. Or some other character from 2005 onwards. If it is an ex Doctor, more likely Tennant, than a classic series actor.
I think it has to be someone or a character iconic to the programme rather than some iconic actor/actress in general for the simple reason they didn't go to such lengths to build anticipation before announcing icons like Diana Rigg. |

Plenty of non Who related actors out there that could be deemed as iconic, however I am hoping that with such drama being made over the announcement that it is someone from Who history. A companion, or better still, Tom Baker.
Not sure which companions they would count as iconic after SJS though so could be any of them..? Susan, Jamie, Teegan, Jo, Romana 2 or Ace perhaps... Or could it be the Zygons, Ice Warriors? Also am I right in thinking UNIT will be appearing again? Could be Benton or Yates (if the actors are still around)? Hopefully not Rose again, what a let down that would be!! Wouldn't mind seeing Jack or Donna again, not as much as someone from Classic Who though!!! |

I would really like it to be William Russell or Carole Ann Ford.

I imagine the iconic star would be someone of Who's past but if it is just going to be an iconic actor/actress, then I'd just love to have Sigourney Weaver in an episode!
![]() ![]() I just have a feeling that Matt and Sigourney would be great on-screen together!

I'm just confused as to whether it is an iconic star, or iconic character. Ah, well, we'll see in 7 hours

my preference would be Romana, Jamie, Nyssa, Zoe or Victoria. Of the doctors I'd love Tom Baker or Tennant (but feel its a bit soon for him to return, and for him to known as iconic yet). Wouldn't mind McCoy or McGann either though
