OMG I can't believe I bet on Vic thankfully a small amount but NO you don't say what he said to huggy in this day and age. I was just frankly surprised he didn't go tonight.

OK its reading between the lines but when he refered to huggy about using a blowpipe sorry but as a mixxed race guy I was way uncomfortabe with that.

I'm no vic reeves fan...but wasnt he just generally enquiring so they could work out who was best to do the challenge?

I'm really sorry, I genuinely don't know what you mean by that - whatever the nuance is, it's going over my head. I just thought it waas a sexual innuendo type thing? Or is that what you meant??

It is absolutely ridiculous to assume that Vic asking Huggy whether he has used a blow-pipe before is a racist remark ... why the hell shouldn't he have used one before, whether he's white or black, and what would it matter if he had ... perhaps it would be a matter of pride. Political correctness ... don't you love it.

Have to agree. No way was this remark racist, either consciously or sub-consciously (think I spelt those wrong). The remark was meant as it sounded - a totally innocent question.

I am shocked that someone can read racism into it.

isn't it perhaps racist to assume that Vic intended a racist meaning to his question?

Yes- it may well be an assumption coming from a perception of him as northern and blunt. If someone more 'acceptable' had said it there may have been no racist interpretation.

Blow-pipes are from South America, not Africa.

Just goes to show that what I've long thought is true.....

It's the perceived racism that's the problem. People seeing it everywhere in every innocent remark until everything is clinical. We won't be able to own 'little black dresses' soon in case it offends someone.

So in fact a black person assuming a white person is being racist, when entirely innocent, can itself be termed racist - an assumption that a white person is prejudiced when no such prejudice exists.

It'd offend someone if *I* owned one...

Errr........yes.......I think.

Seriously, do you not think that it is often the reaction to the supposed racism that causes the real trouble?

I'd be very surprised if Reeves meant that comment the way you're suggesting.

If it was Fran I could believe it. ...Being Irish and all.

People are just far too political correct these days.
Huggy wasn't offended so why is anyone else?

Quite.

Hi Dome. I got side tracked into this thread too. We seem to share a lot of similar opinions.

Yes absolutely. You can read anything into anything if you are pre-disposed to see the world that way. However that racism is then a product of your own view-point, and not that of the supposed racist. This pre-disposition to be racially attacked is what gives racism its power ... it feeds it. If you see it, it exists. If you don't see it, it will wither away.

Far too sensible to agree with what seems the 'norm' nowdays.

We'd have a great night out with JSP methinks.

I agree what would make you think he was being raceist, the whole worlds gone mad.

So, I hope that gives you reassurance Andy1973. Nobody here saw any racism going on, so I think you need to calm down and let innocent comments pass......I mean if Huggy had got there first and posed the same question to Vic, nothing would be said .....so, chill man.
Cristo

OK, ask yourself this: if Vic's comment was racist, why didn't ITV not edit it out???
