Is a Tablet just like a Smartphone?

im hoping the answer is no...

sometimes webpages never bloody load on my htc sensation, and theres alot of websites which are a right bloody palava to view, also what really annoys me is the ''mobile'' version of websites.
with a tablet will it display everything as a 'desktop' would?

or would me buying a tablet just be a waste of time and money because it would be exactly like my phone (and previous smartphones i have owned)

bearing in my i am looking to get the nexus 7...

The default browser on the nexus 7, Chrome does load mobile website as default which can look very bad on the larger 7" screen, but then there is an option to request the desktop page and when thats loaded I've not been on a website that it doesn't handle well, hopefully in a Chrome update they will make it possible to request desktop sites as default.

Don't forget there are other browsers out there for phone and tablet where you can set the default to be a desktop mode ....(user agent)

the browsers and operating system is the same so pages that don't work on your phone possibly won't work on a tablet either.

However as somebody else mentioned there are a variety of browsers available for android and I would try something like chrome on your phone. You can also load websites as desktop on your phone though you may be restricted by the resolution.

I'm finding the Nexus 7 to be far better than my HTC Desire s. Web pages seem to load a little faster and the Wi-Fi on the Nexus 7 seems better in a weak Wi-Fi area. I'm posting this the now using the Nexus 7.

Opera, Firefox, Opera Mini, SkyFire etc etc give choice.

I've never seen this sort of narrow discussion on PC's even though we have the exact same problems there too.

You want Dolphin HD, OP. When it's installing you can set the preference for desktop only version.

Another vote for Dolphin. I've been using it as my default browser on my phone for over a year. You can switch between desktop and mobile views really easily.

As said it is all down to how you view the website and/or which web browser you use.

Obviously if your mobile data does not work it is always going to be slow.
