Keeping Number While Away
!!11oneone
06-08-2012
Hi

I'm going to be spending some time overseas, anything from 6 months to 2 years depending on how things are going.

I'll use local SIMs while I'm away, but I'd like to keep my UK mobile number, but have little or no monthly costs. I've had it for more than a decade and it's the main way people can contact me!

I'm currently on T-Mobile but have no loyalty, will happily transfer wherever.

What's the best way? Transferring to PAYG to park it? I guess I'll need to send a text every now and then to keep the account active? Can I do PAYG top-ups online in case I need UK credit?

I've always had contract so not entirely sure about it...

You can do an internal port to T-Mobile pay as you go. Call customer services.

Here is how to top up while abroad:

Online, E-Top up in selected countries (Spain, Ireland, Greece, Italy and Portugal.) and by phone.
