I'm not a great fan of Temple of Doom, apart from the opening scenes in the nightclub.

I reckon Last Crusade is better than Raiders, but there's not much in it.

Never seen the Skull one.

I know its a cliché, but Raiders is the best by a mile. Its a near-flawless action movie and none of the others come close to it (not that they aren't good films. Just not as good as Raiders)

I like Temple of Doom the best out of the Indiana Jones trilogy. I like the way the 3 main characters play off each other creating some funny moments.

I've always enjoyed Temple Of Doom best. Biggest reason is probably that it was the first Indy film I saw, I must've only been about 7-8. Raiders was actually the last one I got round to seeing, probably when I was about 14. Temple Of Doom is just fun from start to finish. I love the interplay between Indy and Shorty. They are all brilliant films though, apart from Crystal Skull which is just 'ok'. Would've enjoyed it more without the stupid 'aliens' ending.

Raiders of the Lost is pitch perfect, one of the best movies of all time. The sequels have tried to 'outdo' it, in typical Spielberg grandiose style. But they couldn't, despite more action set pieces and better SFX.

The Last Crusade was the most well-rounded sequel, but I like them all to be honest.

Raiders by a royal mile. One of the most perfectly paced action films ever! Harrison & Karen Allen compliment each other so well, she was his best side-kick.

Harrison always works well with strong women, thats why the second one was a let down, apart from the opening sequence, Kate Capshaw was a bore, screeching at every opportunity, whilst Short-round was annoyingly 'ewok-cute.'

I can understand the writers wanting a different kind of female lead, maybe one that wasn't too independent from Indiana, but she was a step too far...

I actually think the 4th one is better than Temple & Last Crusade.

i'm gonna be one that DEFENDS crystal skull ..... LAUGH ALL YOU WANT

even if it almost fails in it's pacing, and the universal MEHing of shia labouf, and perhaps some of the action scenes are a tad too long ..... then there's the fridge escape

and it's aliens ..... but on that, we are talking about a series with arks of the covenant and bloody cups that heal you here , but i can't watched that ending in KotCS without a few more viewings, it's BREATH TAKING! massive scale, no dialogue, and very beautiful to look at!

raiders is the last "old school action movie" and it TOTALLY still stands up today, a true action classic

temple of doom is that black sheep of the series, annoying and funny at the same time, with what was a totally different leading woman character! just remember she is the proverbial fish out of water, quite literally, what with riding a stinky elephant ..... pushing her hand in a hole full of NASTY SQUIRMY MASSIVE INSECTS ..... and worse of all ..... getting two massive bloody holes in your new dress

and let's not forget lunch .....

but having a full blown musical number as the title sequence is typical speilberg, and one HELL of an escape sequence to set up events!

last crusade is a lovely movie, with the old boys getting some action ..... henry jones snr quite literally , i saw it in the cinema and loved it. very funny, very exciting, and what was a fitting end to the series .....

and back to SKULLS ..... funny end sequence too, teasing the audience like that

Raiders.
I hate Last Crusade. Risible dialogue, lousy acting from EVERYONE, crappy CGI, plywood boats (the part where the boats get chopped up by the ships propellers), not enough booby traps.

Totally agree with the boat bit - not only the plywood aspect but the use of Londons docklands for the industrial canals of Venice just didn't work.
However, i disagree completely with the lousy acting - it was fine.

Raiders is one of my all-time favourites so it's top of my list. Still one of the great action adventure films and as good now as it was back in 1981

Crusade would be second because it's just so much fun, wonderful chemistry between Ford and Connery, solid action, nazis (i hate those guys). the perfect christmas day afternoon film to watch with kids, parents, teens, grandmas etc

Doom i like less and less each time I see it. There's a bit too much of the goonies about it, both in terms of tone and quality. I always thought of it as raiders for kids in the same way the return of the jedi is star wars for kids,

the fourth one is like voldemort. i don't speak its name

I enjoyed all four movies, but in terms of casting, was particularly impressed with the appearance of Karen Allen in her unexpected (she had retired) returning role.

I also enjoyed the unedited Indiana Jones Chronicles.

Agree with those putting Raiders not just first but some way ahead of the pack. Superlative stuff. Easily the best.

Temple is interesting, a different sort of Indie film, but the narrative shifts down several gears once the Temple is reached. The progressive, rolling adventure element of Raiders is sorely missed.

Crusade tries to resurrect that, and in some ways succeeds, yet it seems to lack central focus plot-wise, and ambles along rather too cosily at times. Stung by the criticism of Temple being too dark and violent, this is a lighter, softer Indie. Connery and Ford work well together, but the action lacks punch and the ending's a damp squib.

Skull is a pathetic, shameful cash-grab that did nothing other than remind us that all concerned are well past their prime.
