Kerry McGregor
Nicole Lawrence

Seth & The Groups!

First up we have an Over who has eluded the bottom 2 under Kevin's mentorship. Can she keep it up this week with her songs from Sweden and China?

Kerry McGregor
Who Started It - Laleh
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mQUz...eature=related
The City - Emmy the Great
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHzq95-N7XI
Imagine vocals similar to the Nicole Atkins song but with a slightly Kerry-esque tone.

Aliyah and the Girls next; she's chosen South Korea and Mexico!

Stacey Solomon
Hideaway - Karen O & the Kids
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9ti_co_ebc
(starts at 0:20)
The Game of Love - Santana

Kerry McGregor.
Hello Kerry! I thought the first song choice for you was quite good considering the restrictions of Sweden when it comes to the music world, especially for an Overs balladeer such as yourself. If it was me, I would be looking for something with a little more emphasis on the vocals because I think that's what you do best. The second song was okay, only okay for me tonight. Not bad though Kerry, well done.

Stacey Solomon.
I knew for a fact Karen O would make an appearance for your SK act tonight, Aliyah! Well, I didn't like the first song at all, I really thought it didn't do any justice for Stacey. However, I thought the second song with the addition of Santana was a very, very good choice and that being said, well done tonight and good luck in the results show!

Next is the surviving Group from last week, hoping to redeem themselves with songs from Italy and Greece!

Girl V Boy
The Rhythm of the Night - Ex-Otago
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYoSWaWdBOE
(Becci's vocals will have to be imagined for this one, though the most popular versions of this song were by female vocalists; Corona and Cascada, so those could be listened to for reference. The vocals would be split pretty evenly with both Becci and Aaron having solos but for the most part they would be harmonising)
Gloomy Morning - Le Page
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90g8FdZTYGA

And here's the last of the Boys; Justin did not enjoy this theme but nonetheless had two of the better countries with Finland and Australia

Joe Cox
Carnival of Rust - Poets of the Fall
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKk1u5RMTn4
Fader - The Temper Trap
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPPdetZTOx0

Ooh, that's what I meant. LOL, as if Santana would be South Korean.

Girl V Boy.
I absolutely adore the first song, Rhythm of the Night and I could definitely see that working excellently. The second song I wasn't a fan of but I'm sure you'll be through to the next round on the merit of your first performance anyway. Very well done!

Joe Cox.
I don't have much to say tonight Joe, I thought both performances were absolutely fantastic. I thought both songs suited your vocal type incredibly well and that's all there is to say, very well done!

Nicole Lawrence.
Sorry Nicole, but I thought Sharon Kips was a horrible choice for your voice. HOWEVER, I thought the second performance (Natalia) was by far one of the best performances this series has seen so far; I thought the vocals were fantastic and it was just generally a really inspired choice. I can understand the difficulty in the first choice though. So, very well done there.

Goldie.

Dolly Rockers.
I asked for attitude and I got attitude; I loved this first performance girls - a great choice by your mentor. In terms of the second song, it was nice to see something a little different, I personally thought it was a bit... odd... but it worked anyway, well done girls; you've had a great night tonight.

Gamu Nhengu.
Hey Gamu. The first song reminds me of something more Alexandra would sing, but then again, it reminded me vaguely of your very first audition so that made it okay and I could see it working. I thought the second performance was a really good choice by your mentor, so very well done.

Kerry Mc Gregor

I will first of all say that I totally disagree with Zak's comment about Kerry needing more powerful songs, the beauty with Kerry is her unique tone with a hint of soul in her voice, it's not about hitting all the big notes because it's Kerry's distinctiveness that really allows her to stand out. Anyway, I thought that the first song was just a really beautiful performance, it had such a stunning melody which really progressed throughout the song and I thought the contrast between that performance and your vocals on the Emmy The Great song made both performances even nicer. I aimed to hail back to your beautiful 60's esque vocals from the Nicole Atkins song a few weeks ago with the cover in the second song and I loved how you embraced a completely different style of music.

Stacey Soloman

I was a bit unsure when I saw Karen O as the artist but I really have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by the song, I could definitely imagine your interpretation of the song Stacey and it had a really old-style feel, not dissimilar to your beautiful audition song 'What A Wonderful World'. It may not have really went anywhere but it was a really beautiful song choice for you and I thought that the emotional feel of the song was a particular strength. On the other hand, I wasn't a massive fan of the Santana song, it was okay and I thought that it was nice to see you singing something upbeat but the song is a little bit karaoke for my liking so that didn't exactly inspire me with confidence, it was good though and I do think that tonight is probably the best you have ever been.

Girl V Boy

I didn't love the first song I'm afraid guys, obviously I'm not going to criticize the imagine female vocals as that was explained by Seth but the song in general just didn't feel like you. It wasn't a bad song choice but it was a little bit unimpressive, it didn't really have any sort of impact on me and I think that you're either strongest with really fast, really upbeat tracks or dark, gloomy songs that allow you to really connect as a duo. This version of the song was too slow for my liking. Now, the second song was what I was talking about, it was another perfect song choice for you, the harmonies were exquisite and I could really tell how much of an effort that Seth had put into that particular performance, it was lovely, really beautiful and the chemistry between you two was as always, perfect. Well done guys, based on that second song I believe that you deserve a place in next week's show but the standard is incredibly high as always.

Joe Cox

This was an interesting song choice Joe, it was nice to see you playing to your strengths and choosing quite a dark, gloomy song to perform but to be honest, it was a little bit theatrical sounding for some reason and I don't know if your vocals are quite up to that standard, you have a grittiness, an edginess to your voice and I don't think that this quite captured that. The second song choice despite being an upbeat track felt a lot more like you Joe, I thought that your vocals were really good on it and I think that if you could stay at that standard, you would be sailing through this contest. Best of luck to you for the results!

Nicole Lawrence The first song was called 'What A Fool Believes' and it seems like Zak made it come true by believing that the song didn't fit your voice at all. Only joking, no, I really loved it Nicole, I had a few Dutch divas in mind but I felt like this song choice was exactly the style that really suits you, yes your voice may not be exactly like yours but she has the power that is so renowned in your songs. However, I would agree with Zak that the second song was better, it was a showstopper, I LOVED how you interpreted the song and yes, divas may not usually do well on these shows but I believe that you have shown that you're not just a stereotypical diva in this competition, you have a very layered voice and you can do subtle and beautiful as well as you can do big and bold, it was a great performance Nicole, I so hope you sail through to the next round.

Goldie

Goldie! You're always fantastic but without trying to be too negative, I don't know if I loved the first song as much as I usually do, obviously your strengths do lie in the big dance numbers but this was a little bit dull, it was very generic dance fodder and though I could see the parallels between your voice and this artists' vocals, it was all a little bit lost in the rave like beats of the song. A nice but not fantastic performance Goldie. The second song was nice but I don't know, again it just didn't feel like the typical Goldie fare, it was okay but it wasn't a stand-out performance like previous performances have been, good luck with the vote tonight Goldie, you are thoroughly entertaining and hopefully if you make it through to next week, we'll see you back on top form!

Dolly Rockers

Hmm, the first song was undoubtedly perfect for your style and although it was probably a case of coincidence, I'm disappointed that you did sing the Plasticines number that Aliyah has given you in another game previously, I vividly remember that performance and it was great. However, blocking that out, it was a great performance Dollies and you definitely did yourselves proud. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the second song. Honestly girls, suspending belief, I still found it incredibly difficult to connect with the song choice, it just seemed such a strange song choice for you however considering the restrictive theme, I can't condemn you too much for the song.

Gamu Nhengu

I don't know about this first song choice Gamu, you're not a dance influenced R&B girl and I felt like it was a little bit too ghetto-esque for you to be perfectly honest, there wasn't enough vocal power and soulfulness required for my liking and I didn't really connect with the song as a result. However, Ayo is absolutely perfect for you Gamu and as soon as I saw her name, I was really excited to hear this particular song. Thankfully, you didn't disappoint Gamu, it wasn't maybe as good as some of your previous performances, it was a really nice performance and I think that you have done enough to progress through the competition.

SHORT COMMENT TIME:

Kerry - I actually liked that first song choice for you. It seemed to suit your voice really well, and I just all around loved how it fit your vibe and progress in the competition. The second song, though, wasn't my favorite in the world. It was a bit bland and dry at times, and I just couldn't really feel your presence and energy in it. But, the first song was one of your best!

Stacey - Broken record coming, but I loved you tonight. Karen O wasn't my personal favorite of yours, but I still think you have such a consistent and amazing body of work from throughout that you should sail through. And Santana was great. So well done.

GVB - I was REALLY upset you were B2 last show, but I think that Seth picked two great choices for you tonight. By far my favorite of the groups, I think that the second song in particular was a brilliant choice. The first took a bit of warming up to, but I actually really liked the Cascada influence for Becci's voice, so well done!

Joe - Well, I'll never get Kev to like you, but this was one of your best nights IMO, so well done!

Nicole - I agree 100% with Zak. The first song wasn't that great for your voice, but I LOVED the second one, so well done!

Goldie - I actually loved both songs. There isn't much to say... Zak handled a very difficult theme rather masterfully. Great job!

Dollies - I didn't really like that second choice. Japan was SUCH a good country for you - you could have pulled from some really edgy and experimental music, but I just was a bit underwhelmed. And putting reuse gate aside, your second song made up for it. I understand the risk of giving 2 different types of songs, but unfortunately, I wasn't that impressed with the second one.

Gamu - Once again, I don't understand the first choice all that well, but I thought the second was a great song. See the other boys comments.

Good show!

Kerry - I had high expectations from Sweden since Sweden is pretty much the home of all the quirky artists, and Kev didn't disappoint, i really liked this song choice and it suited Kerry brilliantly. I know Kevin already had concerns with Emmy not sounding like Kerry, so i won't really judge on that aspect, the song itself was okayyy, for me it was a bit generic and sounded like all those acousticy female covers that you spot on youtube from time to time , but other then that a strong week for Kerry!

Stacey Stacey you were given two of the most obscure countries, South Korea and Mexico! Karen O may not be an artist that people would assosiate you with, but the album she recorded for that movie - Where The Wild Things Are consists of songs that are so very "you", the song Hideaway in fact reminds me of your first audition, so even though people like Zak may not LIKE the song, he can't deny it actually suits Stacey's style. And for the second song, i spent 3 hours trying to look for a mexican artist and came across Carlos and this collaboration with Michelle Branche which i think suited you really well !

Girl V Boy - I really like the production in that first song, its not what I'd expect from an Italian artist and I'm glad Seth made it clear re the vocal side of things because it makes perfect sense to me! As for the second choice, well that was a brilliant song choice considering Greece was the last country picked (I kind of wish i picked Greece now lol) and to find a male/female vocal artist that still has that Indie sound is quite a find too!

Joe Cox - I can see how the vocal side of things would work out in that first song, but for me, the song itself was a bit too rocky for Joe based on what I've heard from Joe in the passed, a few weeks ago Joe was singing a country song and now he's doing heavy rock , though i understand that Finland is infamous for being home to these weird rock bands haha! However the second song was brilliant and being a Temper Trap fan myself, i thought Justin picked the most well suited TT song for Joe!

Nicole Lmao trust Kevin to pick a Dutch XF artist, the first song I could see it working for Nicole, isnt that song a cover of like a really OLD song? lmao I won't start with my 'not-modern-sounding' remarks but i think Kev gets the hint , however the second was a really inspired choice and i agree with the other judges that it suited Nicole really really well!

Goldie - That first song was really really good for Goldie, i think it was perhaps one of her best performances, and i liked the artists vocal, it had that really dramatic feel to it added with the amaze production on that song. That second song, I didn't like at all, it sounded like a generic euro-pop that Zak picked himself purely because of the half-naked girl in the video (lmao), perhaps If Goldie sang more of these euro-pop songs then there wouldve been a level of consistancy, but right now I prefer when she does the more Latin-pop songs

The Dolly Rockers Obviously I loved that first song choice, as it was perhaps my favourite song that I gave to the Dollies when i first mentored them! It's everything that defines the Dollies IMO, attitude, personality, a rocky edge and lots of hair! I was a little unsure of that second song, it is a bit of a weird one....Yoko Ono is like an legendary artist so i can see why she'd be picked, perhaps a cover of the song would've worked better (if it's allowed) to give it more of a Dollies feel to it but i can sort of see why it was picked.

Gamu Lol I don't think the first song was too ghetto for Gamu, it's an electro song with a r&b beat to it, and Gamu sang similar stuff to this i.e. her Walking on Sunshine audition on the XF, it's just a lot more alternative sounding. I thought the second song was absolutely perfect for you Gamu, it's by an artist that is sooo directly parralel to you, in that she sings pop-r&b songs with a lot of edge and I loved that song and performance!
