EASTENDERS star Perry Fenwick has signed a £400,000 deal to stay in the soap for another two years.

Perry — who plays Billy Mitchell — has been told there will be big storylines for him and wife Little Mo (Kacey Ainsworth).

I prefer him to Den, he hasn't had much storylines so I hope he does in the future.

£200k a year! Bleeding heck! Not sure any actor is worth that...but I guess if they are willing to pay it.

I think he has done really well for himself in Easties considering when he started it looked like he was only in it for the Jamie storyline. No doubt these big storylines involve them getting dumped on as usual...

It would be nice in a way if he turned nasty again instead of bringing in all these new gangsters. When Phil comes back (is he?) it would be great to have them together but not treat him as a side kick. After all, he came in as a nasty bloke beating Jamie but is not soft (which I kind of like).

I'd like to see him pull his finger out, stop acting like a wet kipper and start treating his son the way Alfie does! Billy can be a funny character, but equally if the writers aren't careful both he and Little Mo can be so boring it's untrue!

Compare this (and this is not a Corrie / EE war statement) to the £60k Suranne Jones was being paid over at Granda. Have to ask who was worth £200k?

I think they need to pay actors like Billy money just to keep them in the show, why keep bringing new blood in, Eastenders is all about communities and family (or it used to be) i prefer to see the likes of Perry Fenwick who is a true Eastender and a lovely man (used to go to my school and grew up with my bro and sisters) on my screen than that of Dirty Den and Andy Hunter and Sharon bloody watts! Oh and they should also keep Paul in the show as well and Minty, i think they are believable people because they havent got great big sensational storylines, they are the characters that keep the show going between big stories.

What a waste of money for a character no one would even bat an eye lid for if he left the show.

Alongside this stupid rumour I'm hearing about Den getting Zoe up the duff, and I'm beginning to think that KH is just as loo lah as LB.

Oh well, at least this means I get to save 2 hours of telly time throughout 2005 as Eastenders won't be viewing priority.

Billy and Mo just don't work together, for me - they are either splitting up or being dull. Separately Billy isn't too bad and Mo has a lot of potential, but together - pass the sick bucket.

And no, he definitely isn't worth £200K a year. If they'd given him half that, they could have given the other half to Paul who I agree shouldn't be leaving.

I agree. He's my mates cousin, so I'm probably biased, but I think he's one of EE's most genuine characters.
The whole singing 'Bubbles' to the baby scene was so true to life.

People like him have been jobbing actors for years and deserve to get a good break.

He's a true gem to the show. I just wish they'd use him more often because he does drama just as well as he does comedy. He should be one of the untouchables Eastenders should have like Tony in Hollyoaks. The writers will neve choose to get rid of him.

Like it or not, Perry has been in the top 3 actors of Eastenders quite a few years running.

I am so glad that other people are agreeing about Paul. What a fantastic actor and for LB to get rid of him - what a huge mistake. He is one of my favourite characters on Eastenders ever and he has had some fantastic storylines. I'll miss the character for sure.

Hear hear. I completely agree with all of that Lippincote.

Considering he'll be earning 2-3 times more than most of other soaps including Corrie, it's a bit of a joke, especially because the licence-payers money will be spent on this
He's not a bad actor as Billy I agree, but he's not worth that much. If he earned £100k I would be sympathetic, but this is a joke. They should have a cap on wages, even on other soaps.

I think you may be right actually Huch.

No soap actor earns anywhere near as much as £400k, and as much as Perry as quite a good actor, he's hardly a name that springs to mind like Barbara Windsor and Shane Ritchie.

I think Rupert's boys have got the wrong end of the stick this time

They must have big plans for him and Little Mo if they've offered him a two year contract. Most of them are only signed for another year.
