I think Ch5 should do a documentary showing the rest of Luke A's transition, I'd find it very interesting. (Wouldn't watch the gory bits though).

He was supposed to feature in the channel 4 series, 'my transsexual summer' but pulled out a the last minute.

I don't remember the conversation with benedict but not everything is cut and dry when you are gender (confused) is that the right term? He alway thought he was a man in a womans body but may have tried a "normal sexual experience in his youth" It canstill mean he is a straight man. Some gay men have been with women while they are still figuring themselves out and still be100% gay

He's the one who said he's "almost 100% straight" or something like that. I'm just speculating about what he could have meant, not saying he can't call himself straight if he's slept with a man.

Just read the write up by Lukes mum on that link and what a great mum she sounds to be 
very supportive and sounds like a great mother-in-law too. It can't have been easy for any of them but with family support like he's got then he's got a head start over most people in this situation.

It is tough initially but becomes easier as time goes by. I am at the point now that it is difficult to imagine my transman son as the female I gave birth to.
A lot of transgender people may not realise they are trans until later in life. There may just be a sense of distress, discomfort, unhappiness that pervades their life until they finally realise that it's about their gender. It may have been that Luke had sex with a man before he transitioned in an attempt to "make himself normal". Or it may be that yes, he is bisexual and likes men as well as women. Sexuality is not about people fitting into little boxes.

no he hasn't had the op yet and has said that he would use any winnings to pay for it. I remember watching a documentary about gender reassignment a few years ago and woman to man is much more difficult apparently and they have to have a pump fitted to get an erection. He joked about it once when talking to Adam, said something like he would have to pump one of his balls up...not much different to what happens with a penis anyway if you think about it

Sounds like he has a lovely family.
Fascinating (and more than a little bit cute! ) I always struggle to see any female features on Luke so it's interesting to find these missing pieces in the puzzle.
I wonder how Luke feels about looking back at these pictures or if he feels his life only started once he began his transition.
Evilredzebra: Luke's wife, brother, mum and auntie post very often in his FB group. I've never heard anything but wonderful things about them from the friends who post in there. Luke's very lucky to have them.
