What Can Save Alexandra Burke's Career?

I'm just listening to Overcome (Deluxe Edition) she had amazing R&B/Pop tracks and then i listened to HOH which was not AB at all. Her voice didn't feel comfortable on some of the tracks, it didn't feel like her at all.

Radio 1 and Capital are not giving her any airplay at all. I'm just so upset to see a talented girl's career going down the drain like this.

AB fans i am not here to criticize her! i have both of her albums FYI. I just want to know what you think can save her right now.

Honestly, I'm not sure what can be done... perhaps success elsewhere forcing the public to take to her?

I personally liked the material on her new album (As a whole) although the strong tracks on Overcome were far stronger. I'd like to see her go back down a Pop/R&B route and really go for it - I think maybe an option for her is to appeal to a more mature audience and forget the Top40 audience?

Honestly I wouldn't know, but I just think it's crazy how 'cool' it's become to dislike the woman.

So talented she needs someone else to "save her career"?

What bloody talent? She's a flippin' popstar out of X Factor... not Peter Green.

I know! it seems people like ripping her to threads for the fun of it.

I really hope to see her with a couple more number 1's/top 10s in the UK.

Nothing wrong opening a debate... if you don't like people challenging BS then I suggest you post it in her appreciation thread where your opinions are protected

There's nothing wrong with a debate but you've come here to bash Alexandra.

You said she's a talented girl... I don't see how she's any different to any other popstar.

There's no need to discredit her talent just because you don't like her. She is one of the UK's top female vocalists at 24 and also a great performer.

`All Night Long` was great--classic-- and feels more sophisticated than the Bad Boys and Broken Heels kind of things. Whatever songwriter thought writing a song called `Elephant` would run; if there`s a problem in relationship come up with a better image than a lumbering grey animal.
I`m no Alexandra obsessive but those three singles seemd a bit confused in image (dressing an an American footballer?!)
Get simple, use a smaller pallette of colours, understate, don`t bother with the dancing with backing dancers sthick. Restraint.

I largely disagree.
Her dancing is one of the abilities she has to give away a show. She can dance while singing basicly the same as standing still

The Elephant in the room is a saying about something big in a relationship that isn't talked about/remains unnoticed
Maybe she should've called it Elephant (in the rook) or something like that!

The ability to flip a burger?
Or the super fast skills needed to scan 25 items a minute in ASDA?

I meant putting herself across for smaller (which she may have to) intimate shows, and recordings, just because she can dance and sing and put on all that razzamatazz doesn`t meant she has to. She could be an up and coming Beverley Knight, not a hoofer.

And Elephant In The Room still doesn`t do it for me. `Shadow In The Room?` See? That`s already better. How she could actually sing the word `Elephant` in this emotional song with a straight face... It`s more like self-destruct.

For a starter she needs to quit making dance music, tone down her image and go for a more soulful sound e.g. something like Emile Sande or Beyonce's 4. Just focus on her voice rather than all the dancing, autotune and tacky outfits.

Have you heard the saying before though? I assumed everyone had, but when Elephant was released, a lot of people seemed confused about what it meant. Even Alexandra said it was a "very, very American saying" and that she was bringing it over to the UK: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/in...beginning.html

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that if you're familiar with the saying, then it doesn't sound odd at all. Although I've always suspected Alexandra only chose Elephant as the lead single because it had a 'weird'/'quirky' title. Its pretty non-descript otherwise. I think if it were titled 'Talk About It' it wouldn't have been lead single. There's much better songs on the album.
