Kids from Coronation Street

... is on at 8pm tonight, ITV1. Should be good - features the history of the child stars of Corrie from Tracy and Sarah Lou to Chesney. Steve will also be shown as a teenager (with gingery hair!) and we might get to see those cheesy scenes with Tracy lusting after him.

Dawn Acton was promoting it on This Morning and I was amazed to find what a great speaking voice she now has - very deep and similar to Deirdre's .

Was it just me or did the girl who used to play Sarah sound quite bitter and surly when answering the questions on This Morning? I thought Dawn Acton looked a bit embarrassed for her.

Is Lindsay King(sp?), still an actress? She was pretty bad, but I don't imagine her being interested in that now actually....unlike Dawn who must be feel VERY bitter, and probably Warren to.

It'll be quite amusing if Chesney reaches a certain age and becomes a bit crap and is replaced.

I wonder if they'll ever replace Victoria Sugden in Emmerdale. She's supposed to be ten but acts about 5. But the girl is improving and has cute factor, plus she has been there for so long...

The 'first Sarah' (I'm guessing her name is Lindsey King, can't actually remember) is now working her way through drama school . Yes she did sound a bit bitter, but I think that might just have been because she was a bit interview-shy and inarticulate (compared with Dawn Acton at any rate).

Having now seen the programme, I'm not surprised the first Sarah left. She was hopeless in the role, and as an adult she seems almost paralysed with lack of confidence, so I can't see her making it as an actor, she'll never deal with the inevitable rejections.

Dawn Acton came over as very balanced and a generally nice person. Warren thingy has aged surprisingly well too, although I never thought much of his acting ability.

Was a rather strange programme overall though, maybe because they wanted to avoid offending anyone involved.

It was a good programme but i too found it a bit strange. Imagine growing up being on the Street then having to leave because someone else was taking your role! Id just hate that!

I just want to add, when they went inside the real Rovers at the end, didnt it look fantastic inside!!?

I know that's what I thought, why not just use that for the Rovers? It did look a bit posh for the street though.

Yea they should use that. I didn't think it looked to posh, it looked quite modern, so if the Rovers ever got a make over in the near future it should definitely go for something like that.
I just wish the camera would have turned round so we could have seen what the bar looked like!

They were quite generous with the classic clips in this too - usually you get the same old scenes, but this one was real classic!

That Jamie kid has changed alot too, sounded very loud & hyper - looked like a nice kid though.

Nice to see Anne & Dawn reunited too....

hey theres a new show for ITV2 or something : Corrie Reunited - reuniting surviving cast/familys & discussing their memories & what happened next.

No, it's on the Granada lot and used to be open to the public when they did the tours. I visited myself in 1990.

It's much larger than the set and doesn't really try too hard to look like the TV version. I was disappointed by it.

I imagine it's used by the cast and crew or as the Granada studios bar.

Back to the show, I felt they were rather selective in their choices. Several other current cast members also started as teen (albeit post-school) characters (Kevin, Sally, Martin, Ashley etc)

Also missed the chance to introduce the new Adam Barlow (who's already been spotted in the tabloids, shopping with Danny Young).

That was interesting to see Anne react like that over seeing Dawn, they were obviously very close. Looks like Anne was hoping Dawn would get the part of Tracy again. I actually felt really sorry for her then..

Didn’t Lindsay King say she left as she was being bullied at school? I thought she was replaced by the producer as they wanted a new Sarah for the pregnancy story.
Warren looked well when he was being interviewed-perhaps he is trying to look like Adam Rickett? But he didn’t look so good when they went to the set. Anyway Rickett was axed from the show so Warren shouldn’t be so bitter- revenge best served on a cold dish and all that.

I would like to see what the original Rosie Webster and David Platt look like now. Maybe the show did feature them but I only saw the last 15 mins.

Did you notice how Anne Kirkbride was all hugs with Dawn Acton. I wonder how she feels working with Kate Ford. But Dawn would never have been suited to the new Tracey.
I would like to see all four Traceys united.
And as another poster suggested a re-united show- it would be good to see all of Kens wives meeting or Deirdres husbands.

They made it look as if they went inside the Rovers. To my knowledge you there has only been scene filmed from inside the Rovers on the outdoor set- that was during the live episode and the camera was pointing out the door. I doubt there is anything behind the façade.

The Rovers we got to see inside of must have been the actual one on the street as i said in my post above. It looks really nice inside, going through 2 sets of doors to get into a nice modern bar.
So if the actual set of the rovers where they film ever gets refurbished it should go something like what is in the real building.

The interior of the Rovers that was used last night on 'Kids from Coronation Street' is part of the old 'Granada Studio Tours' which closed down some years ago. This was a real working pub and you could buy drinks in there, though it wasn't an exact copy. To see some exterior pictures of the pub used last night check out my website here and click on 'Coronation Street' and 'New Set'. The pub can be seen in pictures 7, 8 and 9 on the right of the pictures.
The interior of the outdoor set seen on TV could never be used for interior shots as it is FAR too small.

It was hard to understand what Lindsay King was trying to get at, she is so inarticulate. I think that made it obvious why she had to go! Imagine her doing all the Sarah/Todd stuff - on second thoughts, no don't .

Yes Warren looked really good during the interviews, but in the Rovers he seemed to have suffered an outbreak of bad skin-itis. Anyway he looked a lot better than during his Nicky Platt days.

Apart from Davy Jones the scary thing is I remember all of them when they were in it. Can't get over how grown up Jamie Armstrong is now. Blimey, I feel old.

So was I. When I heard Tracy was to return, I was looking forward to seeing Dawn on screen again. But then I heard she had to audition and then was shocked when the part had been given to someone called Kate Ford. Dawn seems more like she could be Deirdre's daughter with her voice. Kate Ford speaks with a different accent to Deirdre and, well most of the rest of the cast.

Yeah, i was a bit annoyed when i heard Dawn Actor wasn't returning to the role, but now im glad Kate Ford got it as i couldn't picture Dawn in the role of Tracey as she is now.
