Wow Strictly doing well

Must say they have some real likeable contestants this year with Kimberly, Victoria Pendleton etc..
That is no surprise. I always watched both shows, loved them both, but haven't watched X Factor all the way through since Alexandra Burke won it, I mean I've dipped in and out very occasionally, but it's awful now, the judges, the level of the acts, last week trying to get the ratings up, it's just embarrassing.

Whereas with Strictly, you won't find the judges keeping in a poor dancer over a good one to try and get ratings. And there is talent on that show week in week out.

I'm surprised Strictly is doing so well in the UK when the format is bombing disastrously around the world.

11.7m peak (including +1 i believe) for XF last night, highest peak this series. Averaged 9.7m with +1 I think, 35.3% share. That's 0.3m up on the peak for last week, here's hoping it can still improve on that. It beat Strictly aswell.

Please name the countries and provide a link if you have one.

I think that you are wrong.

exactly and the peak was 3 million higher than the 8.7 million striclty got and they only averaged 8 million people have been to quick to judge one night striclty may have been against corrie but x factor was up against merlin saturday so it works both ways.

Unfortunately Downton still beat it on average. The officials for w/e 7 October show this for last week aswell:

1 DOWNTON ABBEY (SUN 2102) 10.22
2 THE X FACTOR RESULTS (SUN 1959) 9.09
3 THE X FACTOR (SAT 2000) 8.61

What do you mean by that?

Last year it was mainly the case that the Saturday show was beaten by Downton (therefore that show being #3 and Downton being #2) and the Sunday show is #1.

What I would expect to happen, is that it gradually increases it's audience by a few 100k each week for a few weeks, before making a huge jump for the final. This is what the 2009 final had:

Saturday 12th December:
19:30 - The X Factor: 12.36m (47.9%)
* 15 minute peak: 13.79m

Sunday 13th December:
19:30- The X Factor Final: 15.62m (53.2%)
* peak: 19.11m (61.9%)

So it's been proven that it can happen.

For last week, X Factor was...

#1 among children 4-15
#1 among adults 16-34 (with a 92% lead over #2 show Take Me Out)
#1 among adults 35-44 (with a 23% lead over #2 show Strictly Come Dancing)
#1 among adults 45-54 (with a 1% lead over #2 show Strictly Come Dancing)

#1 among adults 18-49 (with a 53% lead over #2 show Strictly Come Dancing)
#1 among housewives with children (with a 61% lead over Strictly)

Not including +1.

So I guess we'll be waiting a little longer for its 'inevitable demise'.

Could this weekend possibly rate better with the celebrity guests that they have (Labrinth, JLS and Emeli Sande)?

And this is the reason why, with 'only' 9.5m viewers, next year won't be the last one. It may have fallen in overall viewers but it still has one heck of a tumble before ITV and Syco call time on it.

Unfortunately ?

Quality drama (whatever people may think of it the show is very well made) beats mundane, repetitive, reality pap.

That is a good result AFAIC.

Clearly as XF has usually been ahead of Downton.

So, if it's the No 1 show amongst all these age groups, who's watching Strictly???

People aged 55+. That group watch a lot of TV (hence why advertisers don't value them) and lots of them watch Strictly.

None of them are exacltly ratings gold. JLS are overexposed, Labrinth isn't really an a-lister, and Emeli Sande has been on the telly a lot recently.

I wonder if she'll do Read All About It again? Does she have any other songs?

From the ratings thread:

XF averaged 8.6m (inc +1) and peaked at 9.6m (inc +1).

I think it's time to say it is in 'ratings crisis'

I wonder what would happen if he/Christopher were voted out tonight. Would it increase the ratings at all?

They damaged the ratings/ the show after the Week 1 stunt - so I doubt him or any other twist will boost the ratings hugely...
