I guess a lot of people only seem to bother to watch the Sunday show, the guests they have tonight would possibly boost it a bit.

Strictly averaging 9.9m, peaking at 11.3m
X Factor averaging 8.6m (inc+1), peaking at 9.6m

What do you think of those?

I think early Downton viewers and the Surprise Surprise lead-in will boost XF a bit tonight.

I think a lot of people saw The Voice, enjoyed it so much especially blind auditions, and have decided xfactor isn't for them anymore.

Damn! It really is crashing and burning.

This year is done for, they damaged trust in the show too early and the finalists just aren't good enough and lack charisma.

There is still tonight to rebound, but I think the timeslot on the Saturday hampers it.

Next week they should probably schedule it at 8pm, or 7:45pm. Yes, they'll be up against Strictly but it'll pose more of a threat.

That's not the problem with the Sunday show, with an 11.4m peak in week 1 and 11.7m last week, it should reach 12m tonight and continue growing. It's usually the guests that boost the ratings for the results. In 2008, XF had a 'series high' at the time for the results show which featured Britney, I believe it peaked at nearly 13m.

Its becoming tiresome this personal vendetta you have with X Factor. May I remind you how much TV ratings dropped when live shows started 5/6 million so bit early gloating about X Factor ratings.

I really think you need to stop banging on about 'The Voice' as if it was some sort of staggering success - nobody has forgotten how that one turned out.

The Voice was terrible, and descended into stuff that would make XF blush in places.

The Voice tried to be XF, and failed dismally. And now XF has tried to be more credible by bunging some guitars on stage.

And has also failed dismally.

It is indeed. The poster is obsessed with ratings. It can't be healthy.

The Voice lost half of its audience in about 4 weeks, they can't have enjoyed it that much.

Lol, it lost me after 2 weeks. Utter rubbish.

Funniest thing about The Voice was how everyone was lauding it as the credible, proper singing contest for the more discerning viewer on the good old BBC.

Before it rapidly descended into a tedious farce, and camera crews in a private hospital filming ultrasounds so some bloke could sing to his pregnant wife in the audience while she was bathed in a spotlight and crying.

There weren't enough buckets handy to be sick into. Anyone who holds The Voice up as anything good needs their head examined.

What would you predict for last night? 11.8m peak inc +1 I would say.

I thought the Voice was awful, so me not watching the X Factor anymore has nothing to do with that.

Last decent one was when Alexandra Burke won it. X Factor, for me, is past its sell by date, it's all about the judges pretend arguing and acts going through for tabloid headlines, nothing to do with talent, it didn't used to be that bad, I have no interest in it anymore.

People are now cancelling their series link!

We are at crisis point, better hope they didn't have a BARB box as well.

I think it's time for a 'X Factor in Ratings Crisis' thread in the TV/Broadcasting forum (wherever it suits best).

Last night peaked at 10.83m (exc +1). It was beaten by Strictly on average

10.8 million viewers. A real crisis.

I think this has to be the worst x-factor year. The acts they choose every year are getting worse not better. The show is really dragging

For 2008 standards it's fantastic, not after last year. It's going downwards.

Stop being so Melodramatic. Yes it's down on last year but it isn't a crisis. A 4 Million rating would be a crisis. 10 Million still puts it in the top 5 programs on UK TV. There are hardly any programs which retain the massive ratings they get the longer they've been on. Your Crisis statement reminds me of the people on the music thread saying that 1D have flopped because they only reached number 3 with LWWY. Get it in proportion.

Your obsession with The Voice vs XFactor is alarming tbh.

You despise The Voice yet when it was on you were on the forums discussing and blabbing about it.
Very weird.

Your loyalty to xfactor/cowell is weird as well.

Eh?

Rather selective memory and reading. I find the mechanics of reality TV interesting, especially when they go wrong. Which both shows have been, and The Voice went disastrously wrong.

And this is the first time The Voice has been mentioned in months because everyone had forgotten about it. Especially every contestant on it.

So calm down dear, you're the one who seems to have something to get over. I praised the living daylights out of Must Be The Music, which did everything right but was tucked away on Sky.

The Voice? It was just shit, while trying to pretend it wasn't and people trying to believe it wasn't because it was on the BBC and not XF.

Not liking the message so trying to discredit the messenger is becoming a real DS cliche.

What do you think they need to do next week and subsequent to boost the ratings a bit?

Earlier start perhaps? Less ad breaks?
