So, to round up: 8.65m (40%) / 9.06m (41.9%)

The exact same shares as two weeks ago interestingly. But, not a disaster.

I can't see it improving much. And the panel dosen't help much either IMO - Sharon Osborne is dreadful and it is like watching an old folks discussion forum. There is no life in the show and what dosen't help are the endless trooping out of previous failed candidates that we have all seen before (and aren't any better) together with a quite poor crop of new wannabes. At least the US XF appears to have some life in it's panel.

The US X factor may have a bit of life in the panel but have you seen the ratings . The ratings are an improvement on last years .

It was above every single Saturday show last series bar the finale and up 800,000 on last week... not a disaster seems to be a rather downbeat take on the figures.

I think 9.6-9.8m is possible for tonight (exc +1), if it sees a similar increase to last week (from Saturday to Sunday)

What do we think tonight's numbers will be?

Have we got last night's figures?

Average 9.6 million, with a 10.7 million peak

I'm guessing that is including +1 a great figure!

Once again, an impressive rating

Looks like the press are catching on that The X Factor still has life http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...ning-2012.html

It's a good figure again.

To round-up:

Auditions 1: 8.78m (40%) / 9.20m (41.9%)
Auditions 2: 9.21m (36.2%) / 9.94m (39.1%)
Auditions 3: 7.94m (36.3%) / 8.30m (37.9%)
Auditions 4: 9.11m (35.5%) / 9.64m (37.6%)
Auditions 5: 8.65m (40%) / 9.06m (41.9%)
Auditions 6: 9.08m (34.7%) / 9.64m (36.8%)

Next week's auditions should break 10m as usually, the last audition show(s) are the highest rated (as has been the case the last three series). And hopefully, it continues increasing throughout the series.

The official figures for the third & fourth audition shows are 9.24m and 10.27m respectively.

It was 10.41m last week but it was a lower overnight figure so...

It should be much higher next week.

It was 10.85m with +1. 9.64m for the Saturday with +1.

I don't see the point in bothering with the low fat figures (ie. without +1).

Can't see there being a boost as such next week, why would there be? I suspect it'll be about the same as this week.

In the last three series, the last audition show was the highest rated. But, it wasn't frequently on Sundays at that point in previous years.

Year-on-year comparisons would be easier as we get into boot camp. I've heard of several changes been made this year - not sure if it'll have much of an effect though.

It was around judges houses when series 5-7 saw a surge in the ratings though.

That was only because it was on Sunday when most audition shows aired on Saturdays. Last year there were only 2 Sunday audition shows and one was against the Paralympics Closing Ceremony, so the other, which happened to be the final one was bound to be the last. In 2011 there were two and people didn't seem to realise it was on the Sunday for the first one. Before that there was only one Sunday show.

I doubt it'll get a boost next week as there is no reason for there to be a boost. It'll be around the same levels as this week I think.

It won't see the surges seen by series 5-7 either. The show is older and less of a national event than it was. I suspect the numbers will be about the same for the whole series, which would be fine.

Agree that year on year comparisons will become easier when bootcamp begins. The changes sound great, but I hope they promote them this weekend so people are aware of them.

If they put in as much effort with promotion as they did prior to the launch, then they are on to a winner.

I think it depends how the public takes to the acts, really (especially as we get into the live shows). The producers need to look at what they did right with the live shows in series 5-7. The ratings won't rise to that amount, obviously, but they could rise if they are executed properly.

Not bad for a show supposedly on its last legs. It seems to be very stable this year which is only a good thing and its comfortably up on last year.

There seems to be some quite promising talent this year as well, especially from the girls and groups, so it should hopefully pan out quite nicely.

The show's been great so far this year, hope to see the ratings hold steady at 9m & hopefully push to break 10m.

I don't think the overnights are the be all end all with the Xfactor. I bet there are thousands who like me, record the show on sky+ and skip through due to iTV's use of adverts. Especially when the shows clash. It makes more sense to watch Strictly and record and watch xfactor back. Even though I prefer xfactor, that is what I tend to do when there is a clash.

Schedules for Saturday 28th September (Bootcamp) are looking as follows:

Strictly: 19:00 - 20:25
X Factor: 20:00 - 21:30

So, a bigger clash than we had last week. They'll have to promote bootcamp a lot this year, as it is known to be the weakest portion of the show. Evidently, I think the first half hour will be hit, but it should make way for a nice peak by the end at least.

Confirmed schedules for Saturday 28th:

BBC One
17:30 - I Love My Country
18:15 - Pointless Celebrities
19:00 - Strictly Come Dancing
20:25 - Atlantis

ITV
18:20 - You've Been Framed and Famous!
19:20 - Stepping Out
20:20 - The X Factor
21:50 - Through the Keyhole

So only a five minute clash, unless Strictly finishes early/overruns. At least it's not finishing too late, but X Factor has known to perform well in that sort of slot. A good 8-9m should be possible for this night, which is usually what it got for bootcamp pre-2010. It could go higher if ITV promote it well.
