The officials include ITV HD, which we watch it on, and these have broken 10 million, I seem to remember them peaking at 11 something?

Anyway, there's a lot of buzz (such as on this forum) surrounding tonight's show and all the critics are doing is advertising it and making people want to tune in to check it out and see what they think - some may dislike it, but I think most won't...

It's either going to go one way or the other - a steady, to strong rating tonight and a much higher one tomorrow due to everyone talking about it and there being a bigger audience share... Or, more unlikely (but possible) people tune in tonight and don't tomorrow as they didn't like it.
Well, really, it's never going to be lower on Sunday unless people don't know its on or its in a rubbish timeslot (like 6pm).

The first Sunday audition show did peak at 11.2m (41.4%) inc +1 and since then the Sunday shows have been steady at peaks of 10m. Each of the Sunday shows have broken 10m so far in the officials, the Saturday shows all in the 9m range. The auditions are likely to end up averaging out better than series 1-5 which ITV will be happy with.

The show is doing fantastic for a show in its 10th series. You are just bitter that The Voice would never get these ratings. Why don't you accept that these are strong figures for ITV?
What puzzles me is that he moaned when people were making year-on-year comparisons with The Voice even though it wasn't to be accurate, and he's doing the same with X Factor.

Exactly, thus why I deemed it far more unlikely

Back onto the ratings topic...

Last years Saturday Bootcamp show averaged 7.9m / 8.3m, 10m / 10.3m the year before, 9.1m in 2009 and 8.2m in 2008.

Xfactor ratings so far this year have been about the same as last year, in terms of comparing Saturday shows in 2013 vs 2012 and Sunday shows in 2013 v 2012. So its only matching last years series which was considered a flop at the time. With all the publicity, changes this series has had, I think Itv may have been hoping for better ratings. As of yet, no episode has had 10million yet.
In what world was last year considered a flop? A decline yes, but any show getting ~8m is not a flop

I presume you'll be calling Strictly a flop if it fails to crack 10 million in its first few episodes?

Think it came across well on TV. It made people stick with it through to the end rather than just tune in near the end to see who's gotten through. It may have gotten a negative response on here but X Factor is always mauled here.

I think it deserves better ratings then the auditions at least.

XFactor got its worst rating of the series yesterday with 7.8m, down a million from last week, down from last year and easily beaten by Scd. Hassan, I told you this would happen !

Get your facts right. It was down 600k from last week (that 7.83m doesn't include +1).

You may have told me this would happen but why don't you boast about SCD in it's respective ratings thread instead?

Atlantis hurt it - that's what I reckon.

It will be up to around 9m tonight.

Gosh you really are a troll. Strictly got the exact same rating on Friday night yet you say that was better then expected

Ouch! I wasn't expecting Strictly to beat it so convincingly so early on in the series.

The X Factors audience seems to have completely collapsed. I can't help but think that the show should be rested for a few years to allow the talent pool to replenish itself a bit.

Strictly did well, I will admit.

Was it the bootcamp twist which turned people off, or the competition in the form of Atlantis on BBC1?

I think it does.

UK TV Ratings ‏@TVRatingsUK 6s
Yesterday's X Factor averaged 7.83m including +1, 1 million down on last Saturday's edition.

Aww, it's a shame because I enjoyed it last night. Hopefully word of mouth will help it.

Strong rating for Strictly and Atlantis wasn't too far off X Factor. I watched it and really enjoyed it although it's getting a very mixed reaction. May help X Factor if a lot of viewers desert it.

I'm being optimistic here but a 2m night-on-night increase isn't completely out of the question, I would assume.

Atlantis got 5.6m. Maybe the audiences overlapped (more so than Merlin)?

X Factor should easily timeshift to over 9m.

People go out on a saturday night around 8.30-9 Strictly's earlier time slot really helps it to be fair. I would love to see what the ratings would be if both shows times were changed around

I think that people prefer to watch Strictly because it is just entertainment, rather that watch X factor seeing teenagers in floods of tears as it was last night. I watch both by the way.

We can't really use that excuse as X Factor has done well in the same slot before.

I've gotta laugh at Samuel saying that X Factor is dying, over one rating.

I personally hope it's just an anomaly.

That XFActor rating actually includes +1. It rated below 7.5m without +1, down a lot from last year!

That's a shame. I think they were announcing some Dr.Who thing during Atlantis too, aka the BBC trying to get people not to watch X factor

Personally I don't think it was advertised enough. Saw the advert a lot on ITV2 but not on ITV... Many people still must've thought it was same-old Bootcamp...

I think it can pick up tonight, might even exceed a peak of 10m. Nothing is impossible, and I've been reading a lot of very positive opinions on last nights format elsewhere... Perhaps people will spread the word

Just remember the rating doesn't include ITV HD - nearly 2m watch it on this - including me
