Big Band week has been missing the last three series, could they bring back some viewers? I did like the idea of the whole orchestra being there, and getting to hear the vocals more clearly.
Also I don't think this particular final 12 will be suited to that week, it'll be... well... it'll be a massive let down tbh. |

Last year's live show ratings (inc +1) looked a bit like this:
Saturday: 9.1m, 9m, 8.6m, 8.4m, 8m, 8.6m, 8.4m, 8.2m, 8m, 9.5m Sunday: 9.6m, 9.7m, 9.7m, 9.2m, 9.2m, 9.1m, 9.6m, 9.3m, 9m, 11.1m. Apart from the final, it did seem to fluctuate at a low level. In 2011, it looked more like this: Saturday: 10.9m, 10.3m, 10.1m, 9.9m, 10.1m, 11.1m, 10.5m, 10.2m, 10.6m, 10.9m. Sunday: 11.9m, 11.6m, 11.3m, 12.2m, 12.3m, 12.7m, 12m, 12.2m, 12m, 13.1m. To put it into context - the show's been ailing a fair bit since 2011. Officially, the series is currently averaging 9.86m (exc +1), slightly higher than last year. For them to make the year-on-year declines look a lot less uglier, it's got to break 10m on a Saturday at some point. The only comparable years are last year, and probably 2007. 2008 was a good year to compare to until bootcamp when it became lower than that. The Strictly clashes are doing the show no favours. Neither are the 10pm clashes. They've either got to drop the filler or drop the flash vote. I'd do both. For the record, on Sunday during the 8pm hour, there were 25.7m watching TV. On those merits, X Factor needed 10.3m (so an extra 1.1m) to get a 40% share. A 45% share would have given it about 11.6m. |

XFactor ratings drop yet again, worst ratings in years
XFactor's ratings dropped yesterday to only 7.75million including +1. This was over 2million viewers worse than Strictly Come Dancing and 1.2million viewers worse than the 2nd episode last year! Also it was the show's worst rating for a performance show in many years.
What's going on? This is the 7th episode in a row in which XFactor has rated worse than last year. Yesterdays 1.2million drop is massive considering last year's ratings themselves were considered poor at the time. It's shocking! Why has it gone so wrong these past few weeks? |

![]() Mind you to be fair they have driven away families and older viewers because of their silly obsession with being "current" . |

Having that stupid unfair vote at the end of the night will not help the ratings.

This old chestnut. How come the show was getting over 12 million viewers on a Saturday night a couple of years ago?

I'd be interested to see a breakdown of the ratings as I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people switched off when they showed the pregnant woman collapsed on the floor, then driven away in the ambulance - it was in poor taste and was shown for cheap dramatics, and I imagine a lot of casual viewers would think it in poor taste and may have switched off.

But they have gone back the other way with dated variety type acts
Sharon Osbourne was always going to have people switching off as well unless your referring to Sam who is the only one who can actually sing well.

Cos it's tired and formulaic and contrived and manipulated. How many times can you hear "you are what this show is about" or "you are the full package" or "you owned that stage" , and to add insult the same act that has this clched and disproportionate praise heaped on it one week is dismembered and tossed on the fire the next. I only watch the show to give me something to post about on digital spy. I flick between channels, mute the sound and am always doing other things when it's on. I don't care about it or any of the contestants. If it wasn't for DS I wouldn't watch at all. It's like big brother. Its novelty value has gone and it's never going to return to the levels of the early seties.

A lot of people go out on a Saturday night, some even work. They usually just watch the repeat or the recorded version.

I would get rid of the Flash Vote and the backstage nonsense. Isnt working and the talent this year is poor anyway. |
