UK TV Ratings ‏@TVRatingsUK 4m
'@bbcstrictly drew it's best rating of this series last night with 9.98m/43.8% (11.06m peak). #TheXFactor averaged 7.87m/34.1% incl. +1.

That is XFactor's worst rating for a live show in 6 years!
That's an improvement on last week?

I thought last weeks average was 7.6m; so if that is true its gone up 0.2m from last week

Nope. Last week averaged 8million viewers including +1. Yesterday averaged 7.8/7.9million including +1.

7.87 rounds up to 7.9

It's not too bad considering the circumstances. Next week could be well over 8m considering no Strictly clash.

The Sun reporting that Simon is planning to rehire Dannii and Cheryl for next year.

It's basically stagnant around 7.5-8m. Then it gets around 8.5-9m on Sundays. Not bad numbers for any show, just way down from its glory days.

Last weeks ratings were higher than the previous so you excluded the +1 figures when you posted last week to try and make it sound worse Last years semi final got 7.4m according to Wikipedia so I dunno how its "the worst rating in the last 6 years"?

These figures are poor for ITV as they lose money from advertising as they are paid depending on the audience figures.

The Voice can get away with lower viewing figures as it does not rely on such a income stream

Too be fair though, around my area there seemed to be stacks of firework party's going on at the same time as the broadcast so this may have affected the figures.

X Factor peaked at 10.2m. Strictly's average was 10.1m. I honestly don't think the guests on the results show shift ratings that much anymore.

Pretty good rating for X Factor this week!
But still beaten by Strictly, which had about two million more viewers

It is hard to compare the 2 when one started at 6:30-8:00 and the other ran from 8:00-9:30 - A 3 hour differential time frame, as when X Factor starts people (young people) will be heading out. When Strictly is on the audience will be eating their dinner, watching TV and getting ready.

Two completely different times, obviously the earlier time slot is better in terms of the percentage of viewers watching TV at that time. It is common sense.

Yes they are both competing reality tv shows, however it is difficult to compare 2 shows that are on at opposite time frames effectively. It doesn't give an accurate representation of their overall popularity.

Also it is important to consider what TV shows each is going up against, by going on earlier, there is less competition in terms of what is on, while later time frames has more lucrative shows airing.

Yes, Strictly gets more viewers during the 6:30-8:00 time slot, however is this really a fully accurate representation of what is the better show.

The way people consider ratings nowadays is incredibly strange. There is so many ways to watch Television now. On Sky Plus, Record, ITV Player, Iplayer, the list goes on.

If I was X Factor next year, I would start broadcasting at 6:30

Remember when X factor was thrashing Strictly back in 2010? People soon forget about that. Whatever happends here on in, X Factor will always be the overall winner, because of the 2009 and 2010 season, with its huge ratings.

Strictly has never picked up regularly 13m plus across its season.

By about 10,000 viewers, not much of an increase.

It was basically flat compared to last year. Doing okay, but not great. Just wait and see how it rates against some decent competition next week.

Is that a compliment?
It won't drop that low against DW I don't think. Maybe low 7's. Hopefully, XFUSA gets cancelled next year, so Simon comes back. Its ratings are shockingly bad.

The X Factor will obviously be dented next week by the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. By how much remains to be seen but DW will comfortably beat XF I would say. You need to understand though that this is a one off occasion, the BBC are hardly going to be able to show something as big as this against XF every week are they?
