Would you like Emmerdale's Ashley to find someone better than Laurel?
I want Ashley to get back on his feet. He needs to stop moping over Laurel and let Marlon have her.
Viewers were expected to turn against Ashley when the elder abuse storyline kicked off. We did. He has a long way to go but would anyone else like to see him try and repair his relationship with his father and meet someone better than Laurel? How would Laurel feel if Ashley met someone else? I reckon she would hate it even if her and Marlon are supposed to be head over heels. (trying my best not to throw up thinking about them) Dear ED scriptwriters, PLEASE STOP destroying Ashley and trying to force us all to want Laurel and Marlon together! Sincerely 99.9% of your viewers. |

I have been rooting for Ashley for a while now and that clearly isn't the show's intention which shows where they've gone wrong with this story. If you have to throw another character to the wolves just to boost your own ego/story idea then you deserve it backfiring on you.
I don't believe that the whole village would turn their backs on Ashley. It's contrived nonsense. They are all hypocrites who have done far worse than he has over the years yet Ashley has always been there for them if they have needed it. Ashley was wrong in his treatment of Sandy but he accepts this and is deeply sorry for his actions. I wish Diane had been around during this story she wouldn't allow Ashley to be ostracised the way he has. What is it with soaps pushing couples who weren't well liked the first time round? Marlon and Laurel were irritating previously and nothing's changed despite the butchering of Ashley's character. Meanwhile over in Corrie they're putting Steve and Michelle back together when they were a disaster first time round and not just because of Becky. |

Laurel and marlon are the most unconvincing romantic couple in soap. I also fell like throwing up every time I think of the dastardly duo. Strange that Laurel is encouraging Marlon to sort out the situation between him and Rhona/Paddy but she’s done everything to prevent Ashley from seeing his own kids, one of whom is not even a blood relative to Laurel. Bishop George wasn’t happy in the beginning of Ashley and Laurel’s relationship. I think he wasn’t too sure that she had the necessary qualities to be the vicar’s wife. Looks as if he was right after all.

It wouldn't be hard for him to, even the Spencer ladies are better than Laurel in her current state.
Better yet, Ashley and Kerry would be hilarious. |

And the show seems to be portraying that this attitude is right and we should be on their side, witness some of the mag articles where they talk about how much viewers want then together and it is the light at the end of the tunnel. Not for me it isn't, I find them loathsome and more so by the day which is sad considering I used to like both of them until this plot. |

Ashley was wrong with what he did.......think storyline was to show that anyone can fall from grace, but I do hope that they will find someone for him instead of that whingey voiced Laurel, let her go with Marlon, but let Ashley be the better person and be happy with a new lady (Laurel far from being a lady and as someone has stated, Bishop George was right to have his doubts).

The other thing that really annoys me about this is the interviews last year saying that they are a love match but met at the wrong time, ie when Laurel was already married. Circular round things. They had years of knowing each other when Marlon was estranged from Tricia and then after her death when Ashley was dating Louise amongst others and Laurel was pining from afar. She had no eyes for anyone except Ashley, why didn't she fall for Marlon then if it is such a true hearts, minds and soul match.

Yes Ashley was so wrong but I am sick of watching him being turned into this bad guy for the sake of a boring, dull, irritating couple like Maurel. |

Yes, I would. And I'd LOVE for Laurel to regain her feelings for Ashley when this happens, only for her to reject her. And I'd love for Ashley to have a family with this new woman while Laurel and Marlon fall apart.

I want to see Ashley pick himself up and move on with his life. Then see how Laurel feels about that.
Also Laurel can't stop Ashley from seeing his own daughter. She is to Gabby what Leanne Barlow is to Simon in Corrie. Neither hold any legal rights over these children. Laurel is selfish throwing away years of happy marriage to Ashley over a few mistakes, especially since he forgave her previous indiscretions with Marlon. The fact they've tried their best to make us hate Ashley and yet most people don't and are against Maurel shows this story has been a epic failure. |

I would love Ashley to get back with Bernice this would be great way to bring her back into the show and that would also mean that Diane doesn't have to keep going on holiday to visit her and stay with her for a few weeks. Ashley and Bernice where much more suited then Ashley and Laurel and i loved Bernice so bring her back please and let Ashley forgive her for having an affair with Carlos as Laurl forgave him for letting Sally Spode into their home.

Agreed and if Laurel turns into the hypocritical, sanctimonious, self righteous cow that Saint Leanne is, I will stop watching Emmerdale.
Awww Tom I knew it was too good to be ![]() I so agree with you about laurel and hope that now TPTB have split up laurel and Ashley, they don't have any idea to put them back together again one day down the road. Ashley is a changed man for all that he has gone through (wherever you think he deserved it or not) and once he finds out about the gruesome twosome then it can finally be over for him. Can't see him wanting her back after that as I think in some way he'll see that she got what she wanted out of all the mess. Let's get Ashley back on his feet, having moved out of marlon's with a new focus in his life, on a new career path BEFORE he meets and falls in love with someone new. As for both Leanne and laurel, they (can) have residence orders even if they aren't the biogolical mother. They are both the step parent and have lived with the child. I don't agree with how either of them went about it but then again I don't think that Peter went about it the right way either. Ashley for me is the only one who I hurt for more because of the situation with his kids. The stepmums have legal rights on their sides so the natural fathers have to comply with it (for the time being). |

He played right into Leanne's hands in the end and thats his fault! His behaviour was disgusting but having his nasty, bitter ex threatening to take his son away from him while refusing to let him see his son, didn't help either. |

Better yet, Ashley and Kerry would be hilarious. I'd pay money to see that. And the look on Maurel's face the sanctimonious cow. Bet Ash and Kerry would be hilarious!

The thing is for me Ashley and Laurel were Emmerdale's strongest couple. When it worked, it just worked and was fantastic viewing. See Daniel's death, Sally story etc
So for me, ultimately I think Charlotte Bellamy deserves her character to be saved, and for that they need to repair Laurel and Ashley and drop the Marlon aspect. It needs to happen Emmerdale. |

Surely if Ashley and Bernice reunited, Laurel wouldn't have a leg to stand on with Gabby!
