The people at LimePictures need to act fast and realise that Emma Smithwick it leading to Hollyoaks' slow and very painful death.

Emma has had plenty of time to try and produce the show and its obvious she cant really do a good job...at the start i was really liking her stuff, i like how she made the village more of a community and i like that she started showing family units again...but it seems like she has no story ideas. This year has been full to the brim with love storys and not much else has happened. The ratings are slowly falling and the cast dont even seem to want to be there.

LimePictures need to act fast and get someone with experince to run the show but do you think they will do something about it or carry on flogging a dead horse?

I disagree. Hollyoaks was *far* worse at numerous points during the previous three producers' reigns than it is right now. The cast is too big but there's also less absolute deadweight than there was two years ago. They've begun implementing believable family units again (the Kanes). The major complaint of having too much teen focus has been addressed with very little screentime for any of them over the past 3-4 months beyond Abersoch week and the internship in London for George and Esther. Overall it's entertaining at the minute. Maybe not essential viewing but I reckon they're sewing some good foundations.

I can see where your coming from and like i said i like some of the work Emma has done but for me all she seems to think about is love...this year has been so full of love storylines that the show is becoming boring...while we have had the silas stuff and carmel stuff and all that they have always been overshadowed by a love story...the carmel stuff had potential to be a great storyline and it started off so well but now we only seem to see her every other week and she hasnow moved to her nans so we as viewers will miss the process of carmel getting confidence and accepting what has happened to her. The Silas story had potential to be great he kidnapped Texas and told her he will be back to finish the job someday then the next week she had totaly forgot about it and now her main concern is whether Dodger likes her or not

Isn't the show getting under 600k viewers now? Surely they'd get more viewers from repeats of Come Dine With Me!!!

I wouldnt say under 600k but it is defiently not that much better...maybe its because of the Olympics but to be honest the ratings where still bad before that all kicked off

Amy Barnes
Scott Sebeski
Texas Longford

Apparently these characters may be exiting the show also...

Brendan Brady
Walker
Finn O'Connor
Leanne

Pretty sure the cast is being cut down slowly but surely...

Isn't Brendan (apart from Silas) the only reason the show has stayed afloat? If his character leaves I'd say the show's demise is a dead cert. I think they should move the show to E4 permanently and let it die there.

The actress who played Texas has confirmed it on Twitter I believe?

Yes because they give him and Ste all the forefront story lines not because he is as amazing as people make it. I much preferred Silas Blissett and Warren Fox (first and second time) to him... even Clare Devine is a better example... we need a female as bad as her!

Oh how dramatic. The show is really entertaining atm. It isn't her fault the ratings dipped - they all dipped dramatically this summer - all of the soaps.

As for the departee list... BHS is still filming as Texas - and only today DS posted an interview with Jessica Forrest saying she wants a future at HO.

All the other soaps viewing figures are holding their own despite everything, Hollyoaks' are just continuously falling and that is fact. BHS can't act for toffee and wrecked Silas' comeback storyline. I'd say Jessica's looking at a short future and the show possibly, it's far from entertaining at the moment. They assumed Silas would bump up the figures, they rose a bit then fell dramtically, immediately after the damp squib climax.

Nice try. But I obviously read the soap ratings section. If you had been then you would have seen that like Hollyoaks - Home and Away did poorly since the summer kicked in. Emmerdale fell when it got hot, like Oaks and others. Emmerdale, Corrie and EE have took a knock thanks to the olympics. Like Hollyoaks have - only they had less viewers to begin with. All the trends are the same though.

But because HO have less viewers - it is a good weapon of choice for posters who enjoy slating Hollyoaks.

I doubt you know what Jessica is thinking either.

I really wouldn't read anything into that. Just before Lynsey was killed, Karen Hassan said something very similar in her DS interview

Aside from that, though, the only confirmed departures are those who've already gone, ie Scott and Amy.

Texas won't go to Australia. We could never be that lucky!

It's highly likely (sadly ) that Walker has a very short shelf-life, as he's been brought in for purposes specific to Brendan's arc.

And, if Brendan doesn't die in Later, he probably only has a few more months left. I know Emmett has been loving his time on HOs, but tbh where is there left for Brendan to go once they've done the happy Stendan ending, which has so obviously been on the cards for months now? And would Emmett even feel challenged by such a simplistic role? I'll be sad to see Brendan go, but I think I'd be even sadder to see him stay if that's all they've got for him.

As for Emma Smithwick, I have a gut feeling she's already being faded out, and that's the reason why the program has started to pick up slightly from the abysmal show we got in the first 6 months of the year.
