Persons unknown: quick question

I know there's a thread or two about it, but I want to avoid accidental spoilers, and just wanted to ask one question.

I've just started watching it and am enjoying it, but I have a horrible feeling it's a) cancelled and b) going to end on a cliffhanger that never gets resolved.

If this is the case (especially point b) then I intend to stop watching it now, as I don't want to invest time in the show to find I get no return, as has happened so many times (4400/Threshold/Brimstone/V and so on).

So, if anyone knows if that's what happens WITHOUT TELLING ME WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END (if anything does) I'd appreciate hearing if I should persevere or just bail out now.

Thx
TH

"Persons Unknown" has an ending but I guarantee you won't like it. It seems to have been setting the scene for another series which never materialised.
I find your attitude of not watching something if it's been cancelled just plain weird. Everything gets cancelled eventually so logically you should never watch anything.
Would you have denied yourself the fun of "Firefly" even though it came to a premature end?

Sorry if this sounds a little patronising
but do you mean Person of Interest? Persons Unknown ended a couple of years ago.
If you do mean Person of Interest there is better news.
Point A, from Wiki "On March 14, 2012, CBS announced that the series had been renewed for a second season.[2]"
Point B, yes season 1 ends on a cliffhanger but with a second season coming this isn't a major issue.

I would have thought that was obvious, from the examples I gave. Perhaps I should qualify: I intend to no longer watch programmes which are cancelled and leave cliffhanger endings unresolved. Take the likes of "The Crow: Stairway to Heaven" or the ending of the "new" V: I have no intention of getting all deep into a show and really enjoying it just to have the rug pulled out from under my feet at the last minute. I feel it's a waste of time and effort, and PU is based so solidly on a premise that either leads to some sort of resolution (unlikely really in a first season) or cliffhangs to lead into the second season (more likely) that if there IS no second season I don't want to be left wondering how it would have ended. I'd rather not bother.

I've too much stuff backed up on my Sky box to watch it all in reality and have to choose which series pique my interest, and maintain it. "Homeland" was a good example, and I'm glad it got a second season, but even if not, the ending on that could be seen as somewhat satisfactory, whereas something like "Threshold", which broke off mid-story, is not.

Also, not everything gets cancelled. Some shows run their course, come to a logical and expected end. Not that many, I'll grant you, but you have shows like "Buffy", "Star Trek" (all versions bar I think "Enterprise"), "Babylon 5", "X-Files" which all finished their run, and others like "Criminal minds", "Supernatural" and so on which are still running, so no, everything does not have to get cancelled. I probably also mean in the first season, which is when the story is more or less built up and if you don't go to season 2 you lose out on a lot of the plot.

I've also taken to cutting off series midway if they don't "hit the spot", as happened with two I had expected to: "Terra Nova" and "Falling skies". Both just bored the hell out of me and I found I couldn't care less about the characters, which is never a good sign.

Anyway, whatever you think of my attitude it's up to me what I watch and don't watch (and incidentally I did not like "Firefly", so I certainly did deny myself the "fun" of one season) --- I was just asking a question, not looking to have my decision analysed.

But thanks for the warning: it'll get deleted now. It's like reading a great book and then you discover the last ten pages are missing, Bloody annoying. On to something else I go then... "Revenge" maybe?

No, I definitely mean "Persons unknown". It only started showing on SyFy here about March I think, but I'm only now getting around to watching it.

Well, I was: based on what Ironjade says, I think I'll give it a miss after all.

Making such strong statement and not expecting anyone to query it is a bit naive but as you say, it's your decision and you can't watch everything. I also ditched "Falling Skies" as too tedious for words but, although cancelled, there was much entertainment to be had from "Persons Unknown".
I mourn the premature passing of the excellent "Terriers" but I'm still glad to have seen it.
