Playing Humax recordings from Buffalo Portable HDD on PC
Can't find anywhere on the forum where this may have been dealt with in the past!
Have copied about 200 gigs of recordings from the hard drive of my Humax Foxsat-HDR, & now want to watch some of these programmes on my PC whilst "swmbo" watches her soaps on the TV. When I connect up the Buffalo HD-PV500U2 Portable HDD to the PC, in "My Computer" there are three files listed for each recording:- HMT,MTS &TS How do I get my computer (running XP Media Player) to read/play these. I understand they are Linux files I am technically reasonably savvy, ageing, but not as computer literate as I would like to be!! I am amember of a local Computer Club, here in Spain, but so far have not been able to get any help! |

The .ts (transport stream) file is the one with the video data. They aren't Linux files, the hdr uses a linux filesystem but the files are just files. If they were recorded in HD you won't be able to play them (unless you used the non-freesat dodge to record them) as they are encrypted. Try the following free media playing software if they aren't encrypted.
The other two are support files needed by the humax for replay, you don't need them on a PC. http://mirillis.com/en/products/splash.html |

I have Win 7 its version of Windows Media Player supports .ts file, for XP you might need to download VLC player.

I don't have Panda products on my PC - & haven't for 6 years or so should I take any notice? Surely my Norton Internet Security will protect me?? |
