I think Cheryl's new single is very catchy and definitely deserves a top ten placing but I'm a bit surprised that as of last week it was lingering as low as #57. I expected it to rocket up the charts once the video debuted. I hope she has loads of promotion lined up for the release. As we saw with The Flood, a once off TV chat show appearance isn't enough to promote her material. It's a great pop track and I hope it gets the success it deserves, as well as hopefully boosting sales of A Million Lights.

Well it's official release date isn't until September 10th I think, and the song is currently sitting at 25 in itunes. So it is doing well imo.

It's actually doing well. Call My Name is still big on radio and tv. Radio is only starting to play Under The Sun. I have heard it about twice this week. It was at #57 in the UK and Ireland after a week of the video being released. It's up to #30 in Ireland this week. It should go top 10 in September.

Agreed, it's doing well to say that the official release is a month away.

I have to go with the general consensus that it's actually doing really well. It isn't released officially for a month and has only just this week made the Radio One playlist and yet there it is already sitting as high as #25 on iTunes.

I can think of like a dozen songs that shot up straight-away after their music video (e.g. all of Lady Gaga's songs), and I can think of hundreds of songs which peaked many weeks after their music video, many times before it.

So Under the Sun is doing nothing out of the ordinary. Here's how Cheryl's other songs did:

Heartbreaker: 74-OUT-49-29-18-8-8-4-4-4-5-10-10-etc.
Fight For This Love: 1-1-2-4-5-8-10-13-17-14-etc.
3 Words: 26-30-37-43-41-25-14-7-4-5-etc.
Parachute: 65-OUT-88-OUT-46-26-19-11-10-8-6-5-10-10-etc.
Promise This: 1-2-7-17-19-28-37-42-38-33-etc.
The Flood: 81-OUT-74-63-53-26-30-18-21-30-etc.
Call My Name: 1-2-5-10-13-16-22-29-etc.
Screw You: 100-OUT
Under the Sun: 57-etc.

Look how long it took 3 Words and Parachute to climb to their peaks. And 3 Words even dropped out of the top 40 for a couple of weeks at one point. I think Under the Sun is doing fine so far. It won't be until September where we can really judge if it's doing well or not.

This is probably my favourite solo Cheryl song so far. Fiona Sadler on Key 103 said as a joke (presumably) that if we don't like it then she doesn't like us!

I thought Call My Name was a rank piece of excrement in both song and video. Under The Sun, in my estimation, is much, much better. I don't think it will do as well as CMN, unfortunately.

I pretty much agree with this.

I think under the sun is pretty dire, it's so heavily auto tuned and it's not very catchy at all, just boring and bland - much like 3 Words, so it will probs do well

Call My Name has WAAAAAAAY more autotune on it than Under the Sun lol.

I think Love Killer should be the next single.

It's the other way around for me. I find Under the Sun really catchy, but I think Call My Name is boring.

I've never been one to care about autotune. I don't think most pop songs would sound as good if the singers weren't autotuned.

I love that song but I think Screw You should be the next single. It got played on Radio 1 once and managed to chart at #100, so I think that has the potential to be big.

Its number 15 on itunes, and isn't due out for ages yet. I think its performing extremely well, and i think its a possible number 1 for Cheryl if she promotes it right.

Top 5 is almost inevitable.

Unfortunately it seems to be struggling, down to 24 this week. I hope she has loads of promotion lined up this week. A once off Jonathan Ross appearance isn't going to save this

It'll climb back up this week, especially with the new EP sales added on, and reach a new peak in the Top 20. Well as long as it doesn't take an iTunes tumble later in the week (it's currently #16) like it did last week - which is why it went down the charts. Then Jonathan Ross should give it an even better peak new week.

Under The Sun should never have been a single anyway. Screw You (just announced to be the third single btw) is just sooo much better.

Under The Sun is dreadful. It sounded like an autotuned mess to me. Call My Name isn't great either but it's tolerable. I wouldn't buy it but I wouldn't turn it off if it came on TV or radio.

I think this is one of the best of her career, everything she's done from day one even from Girls Aloud has been amazing.

I thought it would do better than it is, but having no performances of it during release week meant it wasn't going to climb the itunes chart much, hopefully the Jonathan Ross appearance will help next week.

I'm never one to blame management for album/songs flopping but I am questioning why there is no promo until next week.

Rehearsing for the tour is my guess. I don't think there was an orginal plan for a tour when she went on to continue her solo career, it was only after fans demanded one on twitter her PR opened discussions so it's being put together abit late.

#15 this week. This will probably be its peak. Shame as it's easily one of her best singles.

Baffled why she wasn't part of the festival season... there's been V Festival, TITP, Reading etc.

It makes a big difference. Being a fan of Noel Gallagher, it was after he got his whole set shown on the BBC from V Festival the album shot up again for 10 places.
