The Watch

Anybody seen the trailer for this yet? What really grabs my attention is the cast. Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill and Vince Vaughn are all in it.

As is Richard Ayoade which I just find incredibly fascinating. I love everything he's done so far from an acting point of view. Moss from the IT Crowd is just an absolutely wonderful character, and Ayoade for me is a brilliant comedy actor, and deserves this role. His inclusion will get me watching this, no doubt.

In terms of plot if anyone is interested, the film follows Evan (Stiller), Bob (Vaughn), Franklin (Hill), and Jamarcus (Ayoade), a group of neighbors who form a suburban neighborhood watch group. When they uncover an alien plot that threatens the world, they are forced into action.

Anyone else interested in this one?

What puts me off the film is that it has Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill and Vince Vaughn in it. I could cope with Ben Stiller but not the other two, especially Vince Vaughn.

Richard Ayoade would have drawn me to the film if the other cast members weren't these three

It looks funny from the trailer and i've laughed myself when watching it but despite the cast it's had terrible reviews over in the States with the biggest problem being the poor script. Despite that i'll still be seeing this, love the cast.

I've done a search & this is the only thread I can find on this film.

Hasn't anybody on here watched it?

I saw it yesterday & I liked it.

It was pretty humorous & likeable.

All 4 leads were funny, but I thought Vince Vaughan stole the show.

The only thing I found odd is that the aliens looked far too scary & menacing for a supposed comedy film.

I found it fairly enjoyable and agree that Vince Vaughan shone throughout.

I saw it and really enjoyed it. I thought it was hilarious. I love Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade, if it weren't for then I'm not sure I would have gone to see it in the cinema but I'm glad I did!

I really enjoyed it, I'm a fan of all four actors (Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughan, Jonah hill and Richard Ayoade) and I found the film really fun to watch. I wasn't bored for a second.

I found it all a bit predictable and forced. Definitely one of the poorer films I've seen this year.

Very, very, very disappointed by this. I was expecting so much and got very little in return. With a cast likle Ben Stiller, Johan Hill, Vince Vaughn and our very own Richard Ayoade i thought this was going to be laugh out loud a minute, boy was i wrong! Not nearly as funny as it should be, if i'm being honest i think the trailers funnier as it has all the best bits.

It's not slow but it took around 20-25mins to get going before there were any proper decent laughs and when they did come it was few and far between. I blame it on the script, just not upto par especially when you realise it was written by writing partners Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen who wrote the brilliant Superbad and Pineapple Express.

The only positives i've got is that the aliens were very well done, really convincing and threatening and the standout of a poor bunch was Vince Vaughn, other than that better off watching it on dvd.
