I made my birthday cake last week:

http://i68.tinypic.com/730z9e.jpg

Top tier white choc mud cake, bottom tier choc mud cake. It was delicious!
Made flowers and now from gum paste/fondant mix.
Covered in vanilla buttercream.
Made '35' cake topper from gold card, gold glitter paint and cocktail sticks.

I also made a cake for my Birthday.
It's not a "Birthday Cake" as such, but it was a cake for my Birthday !

I tried to copy this cake -
http://www.lifeloveandsugar.com/2015...te-layer-cake/

But it didn't really work !
I followed the recipe EXACTLY, but the middle layers lost their colour and blended into the chocolate cake, and the swirls weren't firm enough to hold their shape !
However, it was delicious !

This is how MINE turned out !

brilliant I could eat them now lol
Thank you
The thing is, when I made them, I put them in the fridge for the buttercream to firm up. When I took them out of the fridge THE NEXT DAY, the cones had gone soft and the cake tasted soggy

I'd love to be able to bake like you. You could make birthday cakes etc and sell them!

I love the GBBO which returns next Wednesday, love watching it. Love watching people bake and love eating the cakes. But don't like actually doing it myself

Looks like a completely different cake, still 100% yummy and pretty.

I agree with the other poster who thinks you should start selling these.
Your cakes are fantastic, really beautiful.

Look into having them delivered from your home to parties and stuff., try have some glamourous boxes made, with your name on them. Make a business card in the same style, and put a few with the box. Also, maybe a card with "Thank you for buying, Here is 10 % off your next order.", or similar. Start off charging less than the local bakeries.
Maybe come up with your original cakes too, not sold anywhere else.

You can do it. They are fab!

After watching GBBO last week, I decided to make Viennese Whirls last night

I was a little disappointed that they didn't keep their shape, but I was otherwise happy with them !

Wow Andy, Great looking cakes.

As much as I'd love to make more cakes (I only tend to do it a couple of times a year as gifts), I'd end up eating them all and becoming the size of a house!

Thank you Jojo.
I am an instructor at a Karate club and sometimes I take my cakes in for the club members to enjoy after a hard session !
I also give some to my friend who gives me a lift to the Karate club.
So you see, I don't eat them ALL myself !
