This is the first BB USA that I'm watching, so I don't understand why America doesn't vote for who they want out? Surely that's better, right?

They did in BB1, then it was changed. I'm not sure why as I didn't see BB1, but i'm glad they did.

As far as I am aware - The family of one houseguest managed to get the houseguest's home town to do a call rally to keep them in house. This changed to the system we have now to make the game more fair to the other houseguests.

Also public voting turns the show from a strategy game to a popularity contest. With the compressed bias edits and poor livestreaming recently you may be coerced into voting for a scumbag of the human race just as long as they bring in ratings.

Because public voting means the good players get evicted. BBUS is a game where how well you do is in your hands not the public. The public do vote at the end for their favourite houseguest who then gets a small cash prize but nothing compared to the actual winner.

The first BBUS sucked. As I remember it, I think I was like 10 at the time, interesting people got voted out and it was just boring television with inoffensive houseguests after that. So they changed it up in the 2nd season and it became a strategic mind game that succeeded.

The first series followed the traditional BB format and it flopped badly, so they changed the way the game works. It's now more of a gameshow than anything, which goes down a hell of a lot better in America. The show would have struggled to have lasted past 3 years had it stuck to the traditional BB format.

Although I didn't see series 1 my understanding was that the HM's all tried to fly under the radar so they wouldn't get voted out. Why they would do that in the US house when they don't do that elsewhere is a bit of a mystery.

Since then it hasn't been anything like Big Brother, except that they all live in a house and 1 person leaves each week. It's basically survivor now.

Americans are usually far more strategic then other countries. They are all focused on the prize. And if keeping your mouth shut increases your chance of winning they will do it giving us a boring show. Also in America public voting results are usually very bad good looking male assholes like Jeff would win every year.

I *love* BBUK & BBAU but the first season of BBUS was awful. I remember clicking it on & watched people staring at each other, feeding chickens or building a house of cards.

I fell in love with BBUS season 2 mainly because of the evil Dr.Will & finally went back to watch season 1 years later. I am a BB addict but I had to force myself to watch that season & it was boring for the first half or more. I finally got to love the people & enjoyed it at the end but it was a struggle to make myself watch it.

No mystery. Many of those picked for the British version for instance aren't that intelligent. The Australian one may also be presented in a bit of a childish way to the audience, with silly secret missions and tasks.

Sounds just like how BBUK is now, which is why I don't intend to watch it again. I think the BBUSA format is a zillion times better.

Completely agree. My girlfriend is American and always used to watch the US one by herself. This year I promised to watch with her and am blown away by how much better it is than the UK version. Nice to see a group of people that are able to string a coherent sentence together for a start.

I watch the UK/US/AU Big Brothers and i love how they are all different from each other. Why would you want them all the same to each other?

The strategy in the US version has been great this season, with the only blip being the reset button but seeing how good the show has been from than point i can understand why they did it (cheap as it was)

Australian version is all about a group of people having the time of their lives and continuously puts a smile on your face, whilst the UK version is the opposite (hate hate hate)

If i had to drop one it would be the UK version every time.
