This is making me so angry - lots of people unable to speak clearly and a mother - parent/governor no less - who decides to kick a police car because she has 'issues' with them - bet shes on the phone to em quick enough when shes burgled. Then some have the cheel to complain that the gear they'd robbed was 'stolen' from them!!

I'm finding this an odd programme.
I'm not keen on the 'actors' - it's like one of those history programmes with people dressed up as Vikings. |

I am absolutely livid.
![]() Utter scumbag chavs! I had to leave the room when they were talking about stamping on the face of the policeman who had been hit with a brick. Absolutely disgusting! |

I feel like they're letting them 'hide' behind the actors. They've obviously got recorded interviews with the offenders, they should've played them instead.

I think it devalues the documentary using actors. I can see why they did it but had they shown real footage from real rioters speaking themselves I think it would have been a lot more raw and honest. The facial expressions say a lot about someone and we're not seeing that.

I hope the police get the original footage and get them all - especially that arrogant prat explaining how tuition fees is one of his reasons for looting - he cant even string a bloody sentence together!

I am not surprised at the opinions of the youth, my so called 'generation'. Their obvious lack of education and ignorance is what underpinned the criminality. Gang mentality easily engages people of that age with that mentality.
What disgusts me is the adults interviewed in this program, and the adults involved in the riots. The parents, with supposed life experience, morality and wisdom, teaching their children that this sort of behaviour is acceptable. Forget the actually rioting, the middle-aged woman interviewed at the beginning, talking about 'a war', how gangs from various postcodes came together and are 'soldiers' in her eyes. This sort of attitude is what bred the violence in the adolescence. It honestly makes me sick to my stomach. People with that attitude are not fit to be parents. |

I agree 100% with what pretty much everyone on here is saying. Why actors to interpret the facial expressions of others, why not just play the voice recordings over footage of the actual riots. It was annoying me so much seeing the faces of these actors.
Why do our British youth think they live in LA or the Bronx? If they want to be in that kind of gang culture they should be sent there for a few months, see how long they actually last acting hard and gansta around a bunch of people who would just shoot them if they looked at them the wrong way. They'd come running back to this country with their tails between their legs begging for our soft culture. |

I saw this last night. It was a good insight inot how the rioters/looters felt during the riots. Im shocked at some of their reasons behind it. It think by the sounds of it most of them were caught, some of them were in prison or had other convictions. Also - was one of the interviewers Debbie from EE, She played Nigels wife who died

I recognised one of the actresses - she was in The Bill just before ITV axed it. Why couldn't they just use the actual interviews?

Like one of the blokes near the end said, when they got the BBMs to go rioting, none of them were thinking about the government, or tuition fees or crap like that. Just an afterthought to try and justify their own disgusting behaviour. They should all be locked up and have their homes trashed. |

I have a real problem with the BBC giving these criminals airtime to justify their criminality.
I doubt they'd dare give Ian Huntley that opportunity. |

p.s. stealing a TV isn't quite the same as killing two schoolgirls. You should be ashamed at even trying to make a cheap point on the back of those deaths. |

Hear Hear! It's amazing the depths some people would plumb to for the opportunity to criticise the BBC.

Those rioters disgust me, but compared to (some) bankers and (most) politicians, they are amateurs. But that in no way excuses their behaviour last year - they weren't protesting anything, they weren't trying to make any kind of point, they were just after free stuff, and sod anyone whose life or livelihood got damaged in the process. But to compare what they did to what Ian Huntley did - well, you just can't compare the two, and shouldn't even try. |
