What to wear to the races - not Ladies day!
Hi everyone, I'm going to the races this week and I'm having a bit of a clothing dilemma as I've not been before! It's not ladies day so it's not a posh dress affair, but I'm still a little unsure. We're just going in the normal public bit. Any ideas, anyone?!

Where are you going? Have a look at the racecourse's website and they will have dress code information there. I went to Ascot (not Royal Ascot just a normal race day) and wore a nice pair of trousers, a jumper and my coat (it was November and fireworks night). I also went to Windsor racecourse and wore a nice dress and a cardigan. But it depends which area(grandstand) you are going to and which racecourse as they are all different.

We normally go on the course (the poor side we call it) and no one dresses up. Everyone takes their own chairs and booze, good cheap day out! Conversely on the other side (the rich side) all the women are usually in dresses and fascinators etc even when it's not Ladies Day!

I've only ever been to Epsom race course but not to the races themselves but to a black tie event. At least I have an inkling of what not to wear and what to wear. However people dress in all sorts which makes it all the more interesting to people watch. |
