Agreed. Totally pointless. I could easily list a whole load of top selling acts that i dont like. Does it mean they are overrated? No, it just means I dont like them as much as others

I have always found Katy Perry over-rated, almost as if she were Britney Spears' younger sister.

I quite like Coldplay but found Speed of Sound over-rated. Had it not been for Crazy Frog, Speed of Sound would have made no 1 but then immediately forgotten.

It was obviously an important turning point in her career but it's vastly overrated if you ask me, it also yielded some of Madonna's crappest singles. Ray of Light, however, deserves all the praise it gets. Erotica is also a far better album.

Gosh, Rita Ora.... Her album previews (I know, I know) are beyond shocking.

She has one of the most dull and forgettable voices in pop today... She sounds so unconvincing and bored on every track.
Almost every song on it seems to just be a bunch of repeated words...
It just sounds like a bunch of demo tracks.

Shocking debut.... and I don't even need to listen to the full songs to claim this.

Disagree, and it's a bit of a sweeping generalisation. I enjoyed her earlier stuff with jazz vocals (albeit it wasn't hardcore jazz), and I've always loved Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Holiday, as well as Peterson, Monk, Davis, Ellington etc in terms of instrumental jazz. Her second album was girlgroup/motown/R&B and I enjoy artists from all three genres from the 50s/60s. I'd say she could quite easily compete with some of the best soul singers. I'm a singer, and for me she was one of the better singers of the past few decades (when she was sober). Her phrasing, improvisation and riffs were incredible imo.

As for the topic, Amy Macdonald, Ed Sheeran, Take That, Taylor Swift, Kasabian, Coldplay, Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, Madonna, Emeli Sandé, Rita Ora. Could go on listing all day.

Rita Ora annoys me because the media & her management are pushing her in our faces every bleeding day & I cannot remember one of her songs. Overrated & forgettable.

Ed Sheeran- words fail me as to why he was deemed good enough for the Olympics closing ceremony.

I think arcade fire are overrated, like some of their songs though.
i don't really think foo fighters are so great, much prefer nirvanas music...
i think that the album grace from jeff buckley is overrated personally i couldn't get into it and found it a bit boring i know it's won loads of awards and such though so i'm probably in the minority there...
oh and the xx, whilst i like their album it's not all that it was made out to be IMO...

To me, Carrie Underwood, Chris Young, and the Band Perry are over rated.

I think Adele's 21 is massively overrated. The girl has an amazing voice and I think "Someone Like You", "Rolling In The Deep" and "Turning Tables" are incredible songs, but the rest of the album becomes a bit dull and bland.
