I cannot see how Fred can totally lose his shop. He has a shop unit which he may own or he rents. If he rents it and he hands over the shop to Mike, Mike would have to rent it. He would lose the fixtures and fittings but he would not lose the expertise and the contacts of the staff. Fred could take out a lease on another unit, borrow a bit of money to fit it out and he's back in business.

I don't think that Mike will take the shop off Fred. I suspect that he feels guilty because he had an unbeatable hand and he has few friends left.

I wondered if Mike would give Ashley and Claire the shop as a wedding gift.

I hope that this doesn't happen....to gangster for me! Maybe Fred can put the shop in Ashleys name and say it was always like that, so technically it wasn't his shop to bet away. I don't know, not too good with this kind of stuff.

Hi all!
Newbie on the boardshere, and I love Corrie..
I don't think Mike really wants to take the shop off Fred, but I wasn't surprised at the outcome of the poker game. Fred's had a bee in his bonnet since the Penny King epsidode...its been a long time coming.
As fred would no doubt say himself
"Blood will out, I'll say, blood will out!"
LOL

Does anyone remember the round heads and the cavalier’s episodes, when Roy almost took Fred’s head off during the re-enactment.

As for Mike who knows, maybe Adam will get his half of the factory and Mark will be left with the butchers shop.

John Savedent (Sp) was brilliant last night, though.

I don't think Mike will take it either. For one thing, he's thinking of semi-retiring, and for another he just wouldn't do it to Fred or Ashley. I hope he will use it as a chance to show what a good human being he is .

Assuming Fred did own the shop, could Mike legally take it off him anyway - after all it was an unlicensed game. I don't believe those sorts of stakes are legal.

It's a Gentlemen’s agreement.

Fred’s a proud man; I really don’t see him excepting a gift from his archenemy, even if it will build bridges between him and Ashley.

It wasn't too bad last night.

I think Fred and Ash acted out their scenes very well at the end, but I think a storyline is a little bizarre and OTT.

Not too many complaints though, though I only saw the last few minutes - damn people called me up after 2 mins of Corrie

I dont' think Mike will take the Butchers, what would a man Mike Baldwin's age who has specialised in knickers all his working life, want with a butchers? I think he'll use it to mend his friendship with Fred.

Overall, it was alright last night.

I always ignore the phone if it rings during Corrie - everyone I want to hear from, knows not to ring me when it's on, so if it DOES ring, it's probably a double-glazing firm

I think Fred will still keep the Butchers. Remember a few weeks ago there was the picture in the paper at Claire and Ashley's wedding where everyone is holding up meat cleavers. So i doubt they would do that if they weren't in the Butchers trade anymore.

I loved the scene in the Barlow's where Ken, Blanche and Wanda were looking at a photo album and Ken goes "dear god, thats Adolf Hitler!" LOL

She did! I think it's fair to say that very few people have ever thought of him in that way
