Essential PS3 games

Hey all, I am hoping to buy a PS3 shortly (my ex flatmate had one and I loved it). What would you say are the must have games? I will be getting Heavy Rain for sure (I played a demo of it and loved it). Bonus points for games that are not incredibly difficult because I have not used a PS3 in over a year and don't want to try and run before I can walk.

uncharted drakes fortune. great game great music great scenery.

red dead redemption. single player is great but online play is even better. you can level up. go and do hideouts. theres even red dead undead nightmare wich is another game so you should buy game of year edtion to get that and all the download content free.

little big planet is a good game. so much to do .

Martin is spot on there

I would add in Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper

Also worth looking at PS+ - a great way for a new owner to get access to a decent set of games

It really depends on what you like but I'd highly recommend both Batmans, all 3 Uncharteds, Borderlands, GT5, all Resistances, Lego Star Wars (moreso if you're a Star Wars fan), all Assassins Creeds.

You should be able to pick them all up for no more than £20 each too.

Just wondering, how does this collection differ from the platinum collection? Apart from the better looking boxs of course. Are they going to be cheaper than the standard £20 for platinums?

Sorry if there is a very obvious difference that I have missed, I miss things ... often.

Because I am an old man....

Blur.

Picked this up at Blockbuster last weekend - very cheap, very enjoyable.

Such a shame that the developers, Bizarre Creations, are no longer with us.

I used to have a PS3 ages ago but hardly ever used it as I also have an Xbox 360 so I sold it (big mistake) but I missed playing Uncharted and the God of War games so I bought another one and bought these games, Uncharted series, God of War series and Killzone 2 and 3. Some of the best games the Ps3 has to offer.

i initially enjoyed the game until around half way through, then found it quite boring so traded it in

imo can't beat burnout, really looking forward to the new need for speed

Didn't forget them at all.

Uncharted is rendered redundant by 2 and 3, which improve it dramatically. Going back and playing Uncharted now shows how it was actually quite flawed in terms of overall flow and balance, and indeed the reviews for it show that it was only an essential PS3 purchase in 2007 because the PS3 had little else going for it then.

Killzone 3...the less said about that, the better. A highly unsatisfying carbon copy of Killzone 2 with no improvements and none of the originality of its predecessor - that's even before getting onto the flawed online mode and awful story ending.

The best Killzone I ever played was launch week Killzone 2, yes the aiming was heavy and laggy and took hours to get properly used to but when you did it was so satisfying to play. Then just as most people were getting their head around it Guerilla Games patched it and completely changed the feel of the game. It's a shame they didn't just stick to their guns instead of compromising their original vision for the game due to the crybabies as they partially ruined a great and unique feeling FPS. Anything that was left over that felt unique after the patches was buried for Killzone 3.

I like both Uncharted is still a geat little game - I replayed it recently - I still like it.

KZ3 multiplayer is still good, still requires team work and CoD fans still get wiped out.

I have sunk over 600 hours into KZ3 so I know what I am on about.

Just curious here, but how many of you play or have played KZ3 in 3D.

It doesn't mean you "know what you're on about" at all in terms of whether it's a good game or not. I could sink 600 hours of time into E.T on the Atari, and that will not change the fact it is a steaming pile of crap.

Killzone 3 is not a bad game. It is just distinctly boring and unoriginal after the advances made by KZ2, and personally, I found the online mode tremendously unbalanced as the best class was by far Marksman.

And I agree totally with 2dmushuplover (for once haha ) - I loved KZ2 online until they changed the aiming. I was kicking some serious ass until it was CODified!

I can go positive with any class and work well as infiltrator in warzone - it is great game!
