DC for me. I've just always preferred they stuff. I do like Marvel as well though especially growing up with their cartoons and movies.

Always preferred Marvel. X-Men really did it for me growing up and whille I always liked Spider-man I became a huge fan after Raimi's movies but I gotta admit that while I did resist jumping into the whole New 52 Reboot thing I'm kinda enjoying it now.
Also recently realised that DC have Stormwatch now too and I just started reading the old Wildstorm version plus while Marvel makes better live action DC makes far better Animated films and TV Series so I guess I like them both pretty evenly lately. |

Marvel.
As a kid, I could relate to the more "down to earth" stories and circumstances surrounding most of Stan Lee's creations, when compared to what seemed to me at the time, the overly fantastic cosmic adventures of the most of the DC cast. This was especially true in my teens with the X-Men, which painted a very grim picture of the constant pressure that the mutants were under in a world that didn't want them. And besides, ever since I was old enough to read, I loved any comic book with Spider-Man. |

My favourite current comics are Daredevil, Ultimate Spider-Man, Deathstroke, Suicide Squad, All Star Western, Alpha Girl, The Boys and 2000AD - though I prefer the Marvel comics to the DC comics.
Weird thing was I got back into comics (like a fool I just dived back in) because of the New 52 event but I've spent WAYYY more on other publishers comics. I bet there are a bunch of DC comics I'd like that I haven't read. (I HAVE read most of the Batverse comics, including Batwoman whose art annoyed me, the Flash, Aquaman, both mediocre, the Supers, of which I like Action Comics and Superboy, but Superboy is getting diced up with cross promotions.) I grew up on Marvel, because DC didn't have UK editions. Spider-Man, which had Daredevil in the back I think, was my long-running weekly treat. My mum bought it for me, but I spent my pocket money on comics as well. All sorts. BinaryDad makes a good point - originally Marvel was more down to earth, while DC heroes were over the top. I don't think that's the case so much now. You only have to look at the A vs X comics. Marvel still has down to earth heroes, like Miles Morales, but so many are now tied into an Avengers grouping that sees them fighting Gods, demons or galaxy-spanning monsters. |

Has to be DC for me.
I love the majority of the characters, and have been reading some titles like "Detective Comics" since an early age. I've also liked the way that the "New 52" universe has been introduced. Currently loving ; *the reinvigorated titles such as "Animal Man" and "Swamp Thing" *the new titles such as "Dial H" and "Justice League Dark" *the slightly modernised costumes of Supes and Bats. Also, Marvel have gradually driven me away with their you-can't-avoid-it-even-if-you-try cross-over events, "A vs X" being the final straw for me after 6 months or so of battering the readers with it... ...and I believe they're promoting a new one with Thanos now. *sigh* |

Marvel did a great job relating the super heroes but the storyline of DC is so much more entertaining and easy to understand.

Marvel, X-men got,to me first and then their universe sucked me in for more. After that I went for a few Top Cow tales. Only really had Catwoman from DC.

I think DC has the best character (Batman) but Marvel have produced a much more interesting range of characters IMO (I think the box office successes of the range of films from both companies reflects this), so Marvel win it for me.

Marvel generally have better characters (Batman and Jon Constantine being the exception) but DC seem to have the better storylines. Their constant rebooting is bloody annoying though.

It may be annoying but it is a lot better than staying on the same storyline. I am not saying Marvel is boring lol. Didn't Marvel almost go bankrupt in the past?

Marvel. I've just got into comic books in a big way and I've been sticking to their comics/graphic novels because 1) I love the characters and 2) they have a whole lot more writing in them! I've had a look at several DC graphic novels and apart from Batman (which I am going to investigate), a lot of them hardly have any text in them. I need text.

Its hard to identify the differences between the two generally, though they are certainly there. I grew up reading lots of Marvel but these days the crossovers lose me and DC seem to take more chances with interesting comics, adult themes, and they have my all time favourite character in Batman.
I do tend to follow writers though, whichever side of the fence they are sitting on. |

DC. And X Men is usually good in Marvel.
Increasingly Dark Horse though.. |
